Destiny 2 Solar Titan Solo Build

The Destiny 2 Solar Titan Solo Build is godtier in terms of survivability with nearly no other class/subclass matching its raw durability. This is the class/subclass you play to solo flawless dungeons and lost sectors.

Last Updated March 26, 2023, for Lightfall Expansion and Season 20, Season of Defiance.  Destiny 2 has gone through a major change with their modding system.  Making mods much easier and simpler to understand but taking some of the old metas and either eliminating them or making them relevantly the same.  For instance, the “well” mods most players have been accustomed to have been completely eliminated and really the only system and combination is based of orbs of power. The mod loadout you see today will change over time as we become accustomed to new and shifting meta in Destiny 2 Lightfall.  This loadout has been tested and works, so check back frequently as we will be updating these builds throughout the season and expansion.

Should you play Solar Titan Solo?

What is the Best Destiny 2 Titan Build?

Solar Titans are the absolute most “tanky” defensible and survivable of all the Titan Builds in Destiny 2.  Bungie continues to buff this playstyle and build and in Lightfall it’s never been stronger.  This is what I used to complete the Lightfall Campaign on Legendary due to its sheer survivability and ad control.  The major downside is it’s lack of speed.  But you can live with being slower if your hammer heals you to full and keeps you in the fight!

Solo Solar Titan Playstyle

There are two playstyles for this build, depending on the content you are doing and which exotic you are using.

If you are using Heart of Inmost Light, you want to do all the damage. Throw a grenade into a group of enemies, throw down a rally barricade, then bonk a big boy with your hammer. Repeat. The hammer is your big damage dealer. If you can sneak in a one-two punch shotgun shot and a debuff shot with tractor cannon before your melee, that will make your damage so much nicer.
If you are using Loreley’s Splendor, the play style is much simpler, you will have less ability uptime and damage, but you will be next to unkillable. Use those sunspots to your advantage and remember you spawn one every time you make a solar ability kill. So throw your hammer at everything!

Abilities

Some abilities, aspects and fragments need to be unlocked before use. In order to do that, Destiny 2 players need to visit Ikora in the Tower and do the related quest or purchase them from her. Lastly, if you bought new aspects and fragments don’t forget to “meditate”. Simply click the “meditate” option on the table next to Ikora.

Solar Buffs & Debuffs

Lightfall saw a revamp of core buffs and debuff for each class.

Solar

  • Firesprite (New!)
    • Firesprites are created by a suite of new and existing Solar Fragments and grant grenade energy on pickup.
  • Ember of Mercy (New!)
    • When you revive an ally, you and other nearby allies gain Restoration. Picking up a Firesprite grants Restoration.
  • Ember of Resolve (New!)
    • Solar grenade final blows Cure you.
  • Ember of Tempering
    • Now creates a Firesprite on Solar weapon kills while active, in addition to its original effects.
  • Ember of Combustion
    • Now creates a Firesprite on Solar Super defeats, in addition to its original effects.
  • Ember of Searing
    • Now creates a Firesprite when defeating Scorched targets, in addition to its original effects.

Hammer of Sol

Rally Barricade

Catapult Lift

Solar Grenade

Throwing Hammer
Hammer of Sol (Super Ability): Summon a flaming hammer and wreak destruction down upon your enemies. [Light Attack] : Throw your hammer at foes. Upon impact, your hammers shatter into explosive molten shards. A great all around roaming super, great for clearing adds or for doing a decent amount of damage to a boss. Use this during a situation when you need to clear a space quickly or when you are about to die.
Rally Barricade (Class Ability): Create a small barrier that you can peek over while aiming down sights and that increases weapon reload speed, stability, and range when you stand behind it. Throw this down at the rally point for your damage phases. It will help your team reload faster and offers a modicum of protection. If you are using Loreley’s Splendor, it will also drop a sunspot for you.
Catapult Lift (Movement Ability): Jump while airborne to activate Lift and launch into the air with a strong initial burst of momentum. This really comes down to personal preference, so feel free to flex another lift if you prefer it.
Solar Grenade (Grenade): A grenade that creates a flare of Solar Light that continuously damages and scorches targets trapped inside. I like Solar Grenades for this build as they linger and just can cause a lot of damage.
Throwing Hammer (Melee): Throw a hammer from a distance. Picking up a thrown hammer fully recharges your melee ability. If the hammer struck a target, picking it up grants cure. A ranged ability that you can instantly recharge by picking it up off the ground. Find yourself low on health, throw it at an add to spawn a sunspot for healing. Can also be spammed to do decent damage to bulkier targets. Just a great damage and survivability tool. They are even better with this build especially if we are using Heart of Inmost Light.

Aspects

Roaring Flames

Sol Invictus
Roaring Flames: Final blows with [Solar] Solar abilities or ignitions increase the damage of your Solar abilities. Stacks 3 times. This pairs really well with our throwing hammers as we can just pick them back up and use them again. It stacks up to three times making our throwing hammers do absolutely amazing damage even with no other buffs.
Sol Invictus: Solar ability final blows, Hammer of Sol impacts, and defeating scorched targets creates Sunspots. Your abilities regenerate faster, and your Super drains more slowly while standing in a Sunspot. Sunspots apply scorch and deal damage to targets inside. Entering a Sunspot applies restoration. Again this pairs super well with our throwing hammers as we can get those back almost instantly. This paired with Roaring Flames means survival and damage become better at the same time with no trade off.

Fragments

Ember of Torches

Ember of Char

Ember of Wonder

Ember of Searing
Ember of Torches: Powered melee attacks against combatants make you and nearby allies radiant. We are going to be killing lots of enemies with our powered melee (Throwing Hammers), meaning we are going to making ourselves radiant almost constantly.
Ember of Char: Your Solar ignitions spread scorch to affected targets. Ignitions will be happening a lot, scorching a lot of our enemies.
Ember of Wonder: Rapidly defeating multiple targets with Solar ignitions generates an Orb of Power. Ignitions will be happening a lot, generating a lot of orbs.
Ember of Searing: Defeating scorched targets grants melee energy and creates a Firesprite. The Firesprites this generates will help ability regeneration.

Gear

Kinetic Weapons

This build utilizes Special Ammo Weapons in the Kinetic slot. This weapon will primarily be used to take out major targets or to hit bosses when the heavy weapon runs out.

One-Two Punch
Witherhoard: Obtained in Monument to Lost Lights Exotic Archive at the Tower. Huge single target and AoE damage over time weapon. Perfect for trash pulls and boss damage.
Arbalest: Obtained as a random drop through exotic engrams or bought from Xur on random rotation. Arbalest is one of the most used special weapons in PvE and for good reason. Its damage is great, it penetrates Barrier Champion shields, and can break through any elemental shield as well. No one will question you if you have this weapon equipped.
Irukandji: Obtained from Banshee-44 at the Tower and from random world drops. An easy to acquire sniper with a decent perk pool.
Ragnhild-D: Obtained from Banshee-44 at the tower and from random world drops. Great if playing up close and personal with hammers!

Energy Weapons

The primary weapon for this build should be solar in order to generate orbs and have the most synergies with the solar build.

Ammit AR2

Stats for All

Incandescent
CALUS Mini-Tool: A weapon from Season of the Haunted, it can now only be acquired from Banshee-44 or Xur as direct purchases. This weapon is one of the best add clear weapons in the game. Fast firing with a great perk pool. This is a craftable weapon.
Ammit AR2: Obtained from Banshee-44 at the Tower and from random world drops. Can also be obtained by completing the Foundry Resonance quest at the Artifact at the Enclave. Pairs well with our solar build as well. This is a craftable weapon.

Heavy Weapons

The best weapons for this build are solar weapons and that remains true for the Heavy slot.

Unwavering Duty: Obtained in the Trials of Osiris. A power Solar Machine Gun with great utility as both an add clear and a boss damage weapon.
Cry Mutiny: Obtained in Monument to Lost Lights Exotic Archive at the Tower. Great AoE and does decent single target damage.
Hezen Vengeance: Obtained in Vault of Glass raid in the Legends tab. God tier damage especially since it's solar. Really, any rocket launcher that has auto loading will really help bursting enemies.

Resilience Changes: The resilience stat was heavily nerfed in Lightfall expanse and now only receives 30% damage reduction at 100 stat.  Outside of Titan builds, your goal is tier 8 (80 stats) to get good damage reduction without wasted stats.

Firewalker
Loreley Splendor Helm : Obtained from completing the Legendary Witch Queen campaign or from Legend or Master Lost Sectors solo completions when Exotic Helmets are the targeted loot. By far the hardest exotic on this list to acquire, but its survivability potential cannot be overstated. Whenever you get to critical health, if you class ability energy it will immediately spawn a sunspot to heal you. Basically a free mulligan since PvE builds run high Resilence anyway. Run this exotic on most solo content to keep yourself alive.
Heart of Inmost Light : Obtained as a random drop through exotic engrams or bought from Xur on random rotation. This exotic is worth getting quickly as it is a staple in a lot of Titan end game builds. Ability usage makes other abilities stronger. A great choice in most situations. This is the exotic you will use in most group situations where you need to put out damage.
The Path of Burning Steps : Obtained through Solo Legend and Master Lost Sectors. God tier damage if your survivability is high.

Armor Stats

[caption id="attachment_30290" align="aligncenter" width="720"]Destiny 2 Lightfall Class Mods Destiny 2 Lightfall Class Mods[/caption] Armor Modification Change: these mods will seem foreign to returning players with Lightfall changing the entire system.  The system you build around now is only orbs of power.  You also see an armor charge mechanic and some of the previous mechanics for generating orbs of power and previously used mods.  This system is evolving, and we will continue to make changes as we gain a better understanding of the new mod system. Here's a list of all the current armor mods. Artifice Armor Change: provides an extra +3 to whatever stat you want this should help you reach these stat goals. Artifact Change: The artifact no longer provides mods instead it reduces the costs of some of the mods and provides passives as you level up and unlock them.  Season 20 Artifact.
