Like any other farming game, Dinkum requires beginners to utilize the best tips to start the game. While it’s no rocket science to understand the mechanics of the game, it’s always a pleasant experience to launch it with some prior knowledge. We don’t want to spoil your gameplay by listing everything you should do because part of the fun is figuring things out on your own. So, we will list the best tips and tricks for beginners that will come in handy during the first few hours of your session.

Best Tips For Dinkum Beginners

Some of these tips that we are about to share will be useful for both new and intermediate players. However, not all of them will apply to every player out there. A few players may have already discovered that and might not benefit from the following list:

  • Keep your inventory clean
  • Choose the tent location carefully
  • Sell extra items
  • Dangerous environment
  • Be mindful of your energy

If you want to know what each of these tips means and why they are the “best”, feel free to scroll below and read the given explanation.

1. Keep Your Inventory Clean

Many games have an inventory system. However, not all of them are realistic. While I wouldn’t say Dinkum has a “realistic” inventory system, it is surely restrictive and you can’t carry everything around. So, it is important to manage the bigger inventory, as well as the smaller one. The latter is the eight slots present on the bottom. These can be accessed through a simple mouse scroll. Keep only the most useful tools, weapons, and equipment there. Otherwise, keep the unused slots empty.

2. Choose Tent Location Carefully

When Dinkum starts, players are required to place a Town Hall wherever they see fit. Moreover, they will also have to place their tent somewhere too. However, the catch is that they will be going to-and-fro between both these buildings. So, we advise that you plant your tent and Town Hall nearby while also leaving a few empty spaces for some more important buildings to come. This will allow you to travel easily.

3. Sell Extra Items

We told you to keep your inventory clean and organized at all times. Since you can’t carry all the items, what should you do? Well, you can use them to farm important materials. However, if you have surplus items and materials that don’t seem to be doing you any good, you can also sell them! Players can visit John the NPC, who arrives in your town as a visitor on the second day. He will buy almost anything in your inventory for a fixed price. This is one of the most important beginner tips in Dinkum.

4. Dangerous Environment

Dinkum is all about exploration but you must be careful where you are stepping. Some regions have dangerous creatures like sharks, crocodiles, and predator birds that might maul your player. Each of them reacts to you differently and has different behaviours. You can’t fight them until you have weapons. So, until then, we advise caution.

5. Be Mindful of Your Energy

Observe the HUD while playing Dinkum. You will notice that there are red and orange bars on the top-left corner of the screen. While the red is for health, the orange bar shows your energy. Whatever task you perform, the latter will keep on draining. For example, chopping trees, farming ore, swimming, fighting, etc. The last important beginner tip in Dinkum is managing this bar. When it is close to zero, the screen will start to turn pale and the character will move more slowly. Once it is completely depleted, your tools will take increased damage. You can restore your energy by either eating food or sleeping in you bed.
