GTA 5 Enhanced is a much-needed upgrade for the decade-old title despite the higher system requirements. Fortunately, you can play the Legacy version that demands less from your system. This means you can still enjoy the game if your PC can’t handle the new version.

The Enhanced edition boasts a significant upgrade to the game’s visuals and performance. You also get to enjoy content that was once exclusive to console players, adding more value to it. Needless to say, you gain a plethora of new features and content by upgrading.

In this article, we’ll discuss the reason why GTA 5 Enhanced has higher system requirements than the Legacy version.

Why Does GTA 5 Enhanced Need Higher System Requirements?

There are a few reasons as to why GTA 5 Enhanced demands a bit more system requirements:

Graphics Enhancement

One of the biggest reasons why GTA 5 Enhanced demands more from your system is because of its graphics enhancements. A good example is the ray tracing technology. This visual enhancement simulates realistic lighting effects. This allows for rendering physically accurate reflections, refractions, shadows, and indirect lighting.

On top of that, the game also offers bigger resolutions, wider aspect ratios, and faster frame rates on supported hardware. If you have a big monitor or want more frames, getting the Enhanced version is a good idea.

Even if ray tracing is disabled, the game still looks visually stunning. This means you don’t necessarily need to set most of the features to maximum just to get the most out of the game’s visual enhancements. If you want to save a bit of resources, you’ll still be able to enjoy the game visually even without ray tracing or setting everything to medium.

One thing I noticed while playing the game is how there are more NPCs walking around areas where there used to be fewer. On top of that, ambient animals have also been added to the game. This means you will be seeing a few wild or domesticated animals as you explore Los Santos. There is even a daily mission called Shoot Animals Photography Challenge, where you take pictures of animals and are rewarded for your effort.
