Welcome to our ESO Werewolf Guide. Lycanthropy makes a rousing return in the Elder Scrolls Online, allowing players to become infected and change into savage beasts in combat. In this guide we’ll examine what benefits and disadvantages we gain from the transformation, where and how to become infected, how it works to use, and all of the skills we gain access to. If you’ve yearned to join a pack and hunt your prey, this guide is for you.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Lycanthropy operates a bit differently than the Vampirism counterpart. Instead of being forced to feed and go through stages, we control our transformation from man to beast. In combat we’ll build up Ultimate points and then unleash our rage, temporarily transforming into a furry beast to rip our target to shreds. Here’s what you can expect to come along with all that hair;
+ Bonus Stamina Regeneration while slotting the Ultimate, insanely tanky and massive damage capabilities while the Ultimate is active.
+ Your character doesn’t change in appearance outside of transformations.
+ Our susceptibility to Poison and Fighter’s Guild attacks doesn’t apply outside of Werewolf form.
– We can only make use of our active abilities while transformed.
– Makes us highly susceptible to Stamina builds in Cyrodiil.
– A whopping 300 ultimate and 30 second duration makes for shorter windows of being in form.
If any of this sounds appealing to you and you’re ready to rip the throats from your enemies, the below section will explain how to get your hands on these powers.

Becoming a Werewolf
There are currently three ways to obtain Lycantropy in the Elder Scrolls Online;
1) Get bit by a rare spawn in each faction’s final zone. They appear every 8 in game days, or on a full moon. Engage combat and let it bite you, you’ll know when you’ve been infected.
2) Head to one of Hircine’s Shrines and have a full fledged Werewolf player transform on site and bite you. This is by far the easiest route.
3) Pay 1500 Crowns to get an instant form of the curse, enabling use of the quest to fulfill your journey.
Here are the zones with the rare mob spawns, AND the shrines.
Aldmeri Dominion (AD)– Reapers March
Daggerfall Covenant (DC) – Bangkorai
Ebonheart Pact (EP) – The Rift
Once bitten, you’ll see a quest marker appear over the shrine giving you the “Hircine’s Gift” quest. You’ll need to enter Hircine’s Realm, undergo your first transformation, and hunt the wildlife on the grounds. During this time you’ll have access to all of your base morph skills and your Werewolf timer will not decrease until you’ve completed it. This is a perfect time to get a feel for how combat works, and examining your skills. Once you’ve slain enough beasts, feast with your Wolf pack and turn in your quest. After completion, your Werewolf skill line will completely reset, and you must level it to regain the skills you had in the tutorial.

How Lycanthropy Works
During your quest you were in Werewolf state and had access to the ultimate and your active abilities. Now that your quest is over, you may be wondering, “how do I get those again?” Unlike Vampire or your normal skill bar, Werewolf requires you to be in the form AND feast on the corpses of your enemies. The great thing about this is that there are no NPC type requirements, any corpse will do!
Unlike Vampirism, there are no drawbacks or maintenance to your Lycanthropy, your only requirement is building up a massive amount of ultimate to unleash the beast. Once it’s unleashed, you’ll have a certain time in the form which can be increased upon kills and feeding depending on passives. Your best bet is to farm Undead or Daedra, since you naturally get more Ultimate fighting them and you can eat multiple corpses at a time.
You can also feast off critters, as funny as it sounds. If you don’t mind slaughtering hundreds of innocent monkeys, here’s a location with tons of potential feasts to power level your Lycanthropy!
Aldmeri Dominion (AD) – Auridon
My video guide, which I’ll publish later, will show exactly how to build up 800 ultimate, go to this island, and farm monkeys. You’ll need to find a similar place if you’re not on AD, but there are plenty of little creatures running around to do this to get to 10 fast!

Passives
Allows for extra Stamina return when you Heavy Attack. Helps since our active skills cost a lot of Stamina!
Let’s us stay in Werewolf indefinitely; as long as there are corpses to feast upon. Takes 2-3 seconds to fully feast on an enemy.
Taking Damage increases our time in form without having to stop to feed as much.
Let’s you bite other players to give them Lycanthropy. Good for helping guild mates or making some money selling bites.
Increases our Weapon damage scaling by a massive amount in form, allowing for disgusting extra damage.
Makes grouping with Werewolves increase the uptime of your Ultimate, stacking up to 4 times. Helpful for prolonging your high damage capabilities and tankiness.

Removing Lycanthropy
If at any time you grow tired of scratching fleas or hack up hair, you can head to the Mage’s Guild of the major town in any of the final faction zones (same zones as where the NPC’s spawn and the shrines are located) and find a Priest of Arkay. He’ll remove your blessing for a paltry sum of around 600 gold, completely removing the skill line from your access. You’ll be able to regain Lycanthropy at any time again if you so choose, and your skill line progression will remain the same as it was where you left off. There is no limit to gaining or removing Lycanthropy, so don’t feel like you have to act wisely with this tool!
Aldmeri Dominion (AD)– Reapers March – Mage’s Guild
Daggerfall Covenant (DC) – Bangkorai – Mage’s Guild
Ebonheart Pact (EP) – The Rift – Mage’s Guild

By far the fastest way to level the ww skill line is to stay your happy go lucky self in the quest area after you turn in the quest to hircine. In here you stay in wolf form indefinitely, and the mobs respawn fairly quickly. I just did bite, quest, and up to 10 in less than 2 hours
Just WW for the first time last night, and also got bit and leveled from 1 to 10, but was able to do it in less than 1.5 hours. I am VR14, and this won’t work for low level characters. What really helped this along was the Fighters Guild passive Banish the Wicked, 3/3, granting 9 Ult per undead kill. I farmed zombies in Coldharbour, just outside the Vile Laboratory, about 35+ in an easy circuit, 1.5-2 loops and you have a full ult bar. Then, once you have the devour passive, you can stay in WW almost indefinitely, so long as you feed every 3-4 kills, not that hard at all. But if you mess up, and you are bound to eventually, its so fast getting ult back you won’t even notice.
If you don’t leave though the portal when you do your quest to become a WW you will stay a WW spend an hour grinding and you can start out a lv 10 Ww
Deltia, with all the updates since September 2014 and especially the changes in 1.6. Werewolf has become a real powerhouse for stamina DPS builds and tanks. This site deserves an update to Werewolf. Would very much appreciate if you did find time for this. Keep up the good work!
Kudos Cres
I just took my WW from level 2 to 10 in about 30 mins, the beach outside Vulkal Guard where you rescue a Captains crew member. I just did circuits on those mobs, they are in pairs so quick kills and fed every 3-4 packs, very very easy levelling as I was level 18. Now I just gotta get skill points to stick in the ww skill line…
Does the negative PVP effect offer when you’re not in wolf form?
Occur*
No just while in it.
Do the class skill passives that require you to have a skill of the skill line slotted still aply when you switch into WW form? (assuming you had them slotted when activated)
Must have it slotted.
Currently, do werewolves get a 15% increase to stamina regen while in human form without dumping points in the skill line? I can’t seem to find a definitive answer.
No
You do receive an increase to stanima not in werewolf form i haven’t seen more than 12.3% which is based off recovery. Some key points to note : using crafted drinks that apply an increase to stanima recovery will apply before the % increase of lycanthropy.
The stanima increase in human form only applies to slotted bar. So spam drinks and apply to the bar alotted for your stanima abilities.
There has been many updates to this, or maybe xbox isn’t the same as pc, not sure.
Biggest thing is that the transformation only requires 300 ultimate.
Also there is a set of dropped armor that reduces it by 33%
With an update that just pasted it changed the werewolf passive from granting +40% stam regen all the time to +15% only while in combat. Just having this with no skill points in it is still cool, especially for my stam built dps nightblade. I’m sure it will help with any stam build.
For me, this is really cool to play before vr levels as it quarters most adds health, later it becomes less effective when getting to higher vet levels.
Check out the patch updates they are doing allot with it and hopefully they make it stronger for higher levels.
I know in the guide you talk about WW not being overly good to play. But is there any chance you’ll ever make a WW build that is viable/fun to play? I’ve never rolled a WW character, mostly because I don’t know how to spec it. Thanks.
At some point probably, I’m just backed up with work as it is.
No worries. You had just asked for feedback about possible videos, so I figured I’d put in my two cents. Thanks for all you do, you continue to make the game even more fun than it is on its own.
Hi Deltia! I Have a question about werewolf builds, I want My character to be mainly a werewolf, most of the time I would like to run around and kill adds in werewolf form, do you have any builds that are kinda like this? I’m kinda new to this game but I love it!
I do not, it’s something I haven’t invested a lot of time in since I don’t like Werewolf generally. Don’t get me wrong it’s great to use, just not my thing.
Give hands up to delta! All of your helps with builds are the best. My stamblade loves and salutes you, I name you dominion queen, not the monarch imposed, the one that I chose.
