The newest class for Elden Ring: Nightreign has just been unveiled, and there’s a lot to talk about. This new class is called the Raider, and he means business. This character seems to be focused on slow, but extremely powerful blows at close range. So, strength users are sure to enjoy this unit.

The character trailer for the Raider showcases most of the Raider’s abilities, so let’s go over everything we know so far.

What Do We Know About the Raider Class in Elden Ring: Nightreign

The Raider class is best described as a playable boss. This is because the Raider is noticeably large for a player character, with a hulking frame that perfectly complements his powerful playstyle.

Calling the Raider a playable boss is not much of an exaggeration either, as he plays like a scaled-down version of Godfrey, the First Elden Lord. Much like Godfrey himself, The Raider wields a huge battle-axe as large as himself. Additionally, he decimates opponents with powerful stomps and punches.

One of the abilities showcased by the Raider is a powerful punch that releases a shock wave. This attack was seen in the trailer where it staggered a dragon. The next ability we see in the trailer is a series of stomps that send enemies flying. Finally, we have the Raider’s unique ability, where he summons a giant pillar from the ground for him and his allies to stand on.

This pillar also has excellent synergy with one of the other classes, that being the Ironeye. We even see as much in the character trailer itself, where the Ironeye climbs up on the pillar to shoot at enemies from outside their range. Apart from helping allies with ranged abilities, the pillar is also useful for the Raider himself, as we see him use it as a platform to jump attack enemies from.

With abilities like these, the Raider adequately lives up to the name of Godfrey himself.

How Is the Raider Different From Other Classes

The Raiders’ attacks are slow but devastating. This class seems to be the opposite of the Duchess class, which strikes quickly and moves nimbly. The Wylder is an all-rounder, and the Ironeye and Recluse are classes with a focus on range.

The class that is closest to the Raider is likely the Guardian. However, the Guardian is more focused around defending from attacks, whereas the Raider seems to be all about pure destructive power.

The Raider is shaping up to be one of the most fun classes so far, and it will be interesting to see how it performs in actual gameplay.
