Wonder should be available to play at 9 p.m. PT the night before the game’s release date. For some players in the United States, this would mean that the game will technically launch late the night before.

Though the primary setting for the Mario franchise has often been the Mushroom Kingdom, Super Mario Bros. Wonder will take place in a neighboring region called the Flower Kingdom. This land is ruled by Prince Florian, who also serves as guardian of the Wonder Flower. The powers of this magic flower prove too tempting for Bowser, and therefore, it’s not long before he’s after the Wonder Flower himself to use for his nefarious plans.
It will be up to Mario and his friends – the ever faithful brother Luigi, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Toad, and Yoshi – to venture into the lands of the Flower Kingdom to put a stop to Bowser’s schemes.
Super Mario Bros Wonder: Gameplay
Super Mario Bros Wonder is a lively return to the game’s classic roots as a side-scrolling 2D platformer with an engaging story and innovative gameplay. However, it’s not meant to be a straight re-tread of the classic formula for nostalgia’s sake. The Wonder Flowers is a new collectible that you can pick up during Mario’s journey, and these flowers can rewrite the reality of the Flower Kingdom around you. The results of using a Wonder Flower can include bizarre effects such as warp pipes coming to life, hordes of enemies spawning, and character appearances and abilities changing.
Additionally, brand new power-ups include a fruit that will transform Mario and friends into an elephant version of themselves. These elephant forms give the characters extra strength so that they can easily smash through blocks, push pipes out of the path, and gather water in their trunks. This can then be used offensively by squirting water at enemies or water flowers.
Badges are another new feature for this game. Different badges can be unlocked throughout the game and be equipped to your character to provide various types of benefits. For example, Action Badges grant the player character an additional ability, Boost Badges grant the player character an additional passive ability, and Expert Badges grant the player character an advanced skill.
Super Mario Bros Wonder: Collector’s Edition
Unlike the dominant trend of most game publishing companies, Nintendo does not typically sell official special or collector’s editions of their games. A Digital Edition of Super Mario Bros Wonder can be purchased directly from Nintendo through their digital store on the Switch. Physical Editions of the game can purchased from almost any major retailer. Both versions sell for $60.
Additionally, some of those major retailers are offering their own special pre-order bonuses to tempt fans. Walmart is offering a special set of trading cards, which include special holofoil and limited edition cards. Best Buy is offering a poster, while GameStop has a special free sticker set.
