To get inside Philgrave’s Mansion, head around to the west side. There is a stone door on this side and you can lock pick it, or destroy it, to open the way inside. This will lead directly into the basement, where you will find Mystic Carrion a couple of rooms over. Speak to him and ask if he needs help with anything. Objectives of Find Mystic Carrion’s Servant Quest in BG3

The main objection of the Find Mystic Carrion’s Servant quest in Baldur’s Gate 3 is to find the servant, Thrumbo. However, once you achieve that, you’ll then need to decide how to act. You can either side with Mystic Carrion and kill Thrumbo for the reward. Or, you can side with Thrumbo and find a way to end Mystic Carrion for good.

Here are the following objectives you need to complete for the Find Mystic Carrion’s Servant Quest in BG3:

  • Find Thrumbo for Mystic Carrion.
  • Talk to Thrumbo.
  • Decide Thrumbo’s fate.
    • Deliver Thrumbo’s body to Mystic Carrion.
    • Kill Mystic Carrion for good.

How to Complete Find Mystic Carrion’s Servant in BG3?

To complete the Find Mystic Carrion’s Servant quest in BG3, you first need to find Mystic Carrion in Philgrave’s Mansion in the southern part of the city of Balur’s Gate. The mansion can be broken into by going over to the west side of the building and lockpicking the stone door. This will let you directly into the basement where you can speak to Mystic Carrion. Ask if he needs help, and you’ll receive the Find Mystic Carrion’s Servant quest.

Use the following detailed instructions to complete each step of the Find Mystic Carrion’s Servant quest.

Step 1: Find Thrumbo for Mystic Carrion

If you keep searching the Mansion you can find a note that will lead you to three different city beggars who were traveling with Thrumbo. However, you do not have to find all of them to advance the quest.

Instead, head northeast from Philgrave’s Mansion to some abandoned homes down by the docks. There may be some crates stacked in front of the entrance, but you can easily destroy them. After you get inside, open up the Wardrobe, and you will discover Thrumbo.

Step 2: Talk to Thrumbo

Finding Thrumbo will automatically trigger a dialogue scene with him. He’ll tell you more about his backstory and his experience with Mystic Carrion. You can now choose to either kill him or spare Thrumbo and kill Mystic Carrion.

Killing Thumbo and returning to Mystic Carrion is a much easier task. On the other hand, siding with Thumbo will start a new sub-quest called End Mystic Carrion’s Immortality. These tasks will require you to find four canopic-like jars and destroy them before you can kill Mystic Carrion.

Step 3: Deliver Thrumbo’s body to Mystic Carrion

If you choose to side with Mystic Carrion, then your next steps will be relatively simple. Killing Thrumbo is easy, in a four-against-one fight. Afterward, pick up his body and walk back to Philgrave’s Mansion.

Speak to Mystic Carrion and he will immediately be aware that you have brought him Thrumbo’s body. If you have seen the Jar of Mystic Carrion’s Heart in Thrumbo’s inventory, you can use the knowledge to shake him down for additional gold. Either way, he will reward you with the Torch of Revocation and the quest will be completed.

Step 4: End Mystic Carrion’s Immortality

If you choose to help Thrumbo defeat the undead mummy lord, then you will receive the End Mystic Carrion’s Immortality quest. This will require finding four canopic jars that contain an organ of Mystic Carrion’s. Here are the locations of all four Jars of Mystic Carrion’s:

  • Jar of Mystic Carrion’s Brain is on a table in the Ancient Lair.
  • Jar of Mystic Carrion’s Lungs is in the Graveyard’s Mortuary basement.
  • Jar of Mystic Carrion’s Liver is in a Gilded Chest in the Ancient Lair.
  • Jar of Mystic Carrion’s Heart is inside Thrumbo.

Destroying the Brain, Lungs, and Liver will weaken Mystic Carrion. However, you need only destroy the heart to permanently defeat him. If you are playing through the game in a normal fashion, then finding the other jars will lead you to the information that the Heart is with Thrumbo.

However, if you’d rather skip all those steps, you can just pickpocket the Jar of Mystic Carrion’s Heart from Thrumbo. Destroy it with ranged attacks, and then head back to Philgrave’s Mansion to fight and kill Mystic Carrion for good.
