Discover the perfect weapons to effectively eliminate groups of Automatons in Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2.
In Helldivers 2, players join with other fellow Helldivers to keep the Super Earth safe by defeating waves of enemies. The bugs-like Terminids and the Automatons are the primary enemies in the multiplayer title. While defeating Terminids is relatively easy and doesn’t require much strategy, that’s not the case for Automatons, the Legion of Machinery bots.
These Automatons are well armored and equipped with heavy machinery, capable of performing devastating projectile and ranged attacks. Optimize your loadout with the below-listed weapons and Stratagems to kill the Automatons more effectively in Helldivers 2.

Best Weapons and Loadout To Deal With Automatons in Helldivers 2
Most of the Automatons units dish out ranged and explosive attacks. So it is wise to pick up powerful long-ranged weapons with high firepower and fire rate to deal with them. In addition to your weapons, several Armor Perks add additional advantages over Automatons.
Armor Perks
Equipping armors with certain armor perks such as Extra Padding, Scout, Engineering Kit, and Fortified gives you an advantage over battle with Automatons. Extra Padding increases your armor rating and allows players to withstand more damage. Fortified is considered one of the best armor perks against Automatons, as it reduces 50% explosive damage. Additionally, the recoil rate will be reduced by 30% when crouched or prone.
Engineering Kit also reduces the recoil rate, similar to Fortified. This allows you to make more accurate shots from a safe distance to their vulnerable and weak spots. Since some weapons like Shotguns require you to get closer, Scout works best for the stealth approach as it reduces the detection range while boosting the stamina and speed stats.

Weapons and Stratagems
LAS-99 Quasar Cannon
The Quasar Cannon is perhaps the best anti-Automaton weapon. Loaded with an EAT-17 Expendable Anti-Tank round, this weapon launches a charged single round of explosive energy. You can aim down the sight and launch a clean shot from a long distance to wipe out heavy Automaton units like Hulk, and even Dropships, and Gunships. While the Quasar Cannon has infinite ammo, the only downside of this powerful weapon is its longer cooldown period.
R-63 Diligence
The standard marksman rifle with light armor penetrating rounds perfectly does the job of picking off enemies at long range. Since it lacks armor penetration, It serves as an ideal choice for performing headshots against light Automatons units such as the Troops, and Devastators. With precise fire and moderate recoil, it is one of the most reliable weapons for fighting Automatons at mid-long range.
AC-8 Autocannon
The AC-8 Autocannon is considered highly effective against Automatons such as Scout Striders and Devastators due to its versatility and prowess at long-range. The automatic AMR allows players to switch between different ammo types to adapt to the situation.
SG-225 Breaker
This automatic shotgun earns its place as one of the best weapons in Helldivers 2 and remains a fan favorite for many players. It has a high fire rate when compared to other shotguns, capable of dealing devastating damage to the bots. While being deadly at close range, it can also perform well at mid-range when switched to semi-automatic mode.
FAF-14 Spear
FAF-14 Spear is a missile launcher that fires self-guided anti-tank missiles. Its target-locking mechanism makes it a perfect counter against tanks, cannon turrets, and aircraft like Dropships, and Gunships.
RS-422 Railgun
The single-shot marksman’s weapon is another great choice against bots like Devastators and Hulks. Its highly powerful rounds are capable of penetrating even tank-level armor. While using it in unsafe mode maximizes its power, it requires practice to make use of its full potential.
GR-8 Recoilless Rifle
The Recoilless Rifle works almost the same as the AC-8 Autocannon and FAF-14 Spear. Using the High Explosive Anti Tank and Hight Explosive rounds, allows you to fend off heavy Automatons units like Hulk and Tank, and Dropship with a single shot.
In addition to the above-mentioned weapons, several non-support weapon Stratagems work effectively in wiping out a large group of Automatons. It includes Eagle Airstrike, A/M-12 Mortar Sentry, Hellbomb, and Orbital Laser. These Stratagems allow you to perform devastating explosive or single-target hits.
