The Circle of the Stars Druids in Baldur’s Gate 3 use Starry Form to gain damage and healing potential without sacrificing spellcasting.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has expanded its class system with 12 new subclasses and introduced a refreshing variety of playstyles to the game. Among them, the nature-based druids have received a celestial twist with the Circle of the Stars subclass. These casters tap into cosmic energy using Starry Forms in addition to traditional shapeshifting. These forms have unique twists to them and are distinct from shapeshifting abilities.
Starry Form in Baldur’s Gate 3
By spending a Wild Shape charge and a bonus action, Circle of the Stars Druids gain different abilities based on the chosen Starry Form—Archer, Chalice, or Dragon. Each form caters to a distinct playstyle, from ranged attacks to healing boosts and melee combat. The Starry Forms are unlocked at level 2 of the subclass and last until Long Rest once cast. You can switch between the three Starry Forms once per turn as a free action. Considering that you can still cast spells while in Starry Form, they vastly increase the druid’s versatility.
Starry Form: Archer

The Archer Starry Form allows the druid to shoot arrows made of light by casting Luminous Arrow. The level 1 evocation spell uses a bonus action and deals 1d8 + Wisdom modifier radiant damage to a target over 18m or 60ft. An attack roll determines whether the arrow hits, and the ability is recharged every turn.
After reaching level 10 as the Circle of the Stars Druid, the Twinkling Constellations passive feature increases the base damage of the Luminous Arrow to 2d8 radiant damage. The Archer Starry Form significantly adds to the druid’s ranged capabilities. Since the arrows deal radiant damage, the druid is especially effective against vulnerable undead creatures, such as those wandering the Shadow-Cursed Lands.
Starry Form: Chalice

When adopting the Chalice Starry Form, Circle of the Stars druids can significantly buff their healing abilities using a bonus action. The form allows the druid to use Chalice Healing after casting a healing spell that consumes a spell slot. Chalice Healing can heal the druid or their allies for 1d8 + Wisdom modifier hitpoints within 9m or 30ft once per turn using a bonus action. When the Twinkling Constellations passive is applied, the base healing of Chalice Healing is increased to 2d8 hit points.
Starry Form: Dragon

The Dragon Starry Form is powerful in melee as it allows the druid to deal AoE damage in a cone while buffing concentration-saving throws. Once per turn, the druid can expend a bonus action to cast Dazzling Breath, which deals 2d6 + wisdom modifier radiant damage. Targets hit by the 5 m or 17 ft cone of Dazzling Breath make dexterity saving throws. If they succeed, they take half the damage. Additionally, for concentration saving throws, the form will count any rolls below a 9 as 10. This means most attacks doing less than 22 damage cannot break concentration. With the Twinkling Constellations passive, the druid can fly 6 m or 20 ft in the Dragon Starry Form.
