Defeat the Goblins Quest Overview in Baldur’s Gate 3
Defeat the Goblins is a sub-quest of Druid Grove’s main quest Save the Refugees in Act One. It can be initiated by speaking with Zevlor after Kagha asks the party to aid them. Although you may have resolved the Tiefling/Druid conflict in the Grove, you will still need to save them all from the Goblins if you wish to save Zevlor in Act 1 successfully. You must locate and infiltrate the Goblin Camp on the far west side of the Act 1 map. Then, you need to enter the Shattered Sanctum to the north and kill all three Goblin leaders.
Additionally, you can find and save the Archdruid Halsin. Halsin is a potential companion and he will be able to resolve any lingering issues at the Grove further. This is not strictly necessary for saving the Grove. However, you must kill Priestess Gut and Dror Ragzlin. Furthermore, you must either incapacitate (knock out with a non-lethal hit) or outright kill Minthara. Doing so will save the Grove and the Tieflings, and when you return a grateful Zevlor will thank you for your help. Moreover, he’ll help prepare a celebratory party before everyone leaves.
How to complete Defeat the Goblins in BG3
You must follow all the steps to complete the Defeat the Goblins in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Speak with the Zevlor
Defeat the goblin quest involves defeating three leaders of the goblin camp who are a threat to the Druids’ Grove and the tieflings. Speak with the Kagha in the Inner Sanctum of the Druid Grove and talk to Zevlor to receive this quest. According to the Kagha, the outsiders are bringing trouble to the Grove and she asks you to send them off. You can find the Zelvor in the Secluded Chamber in the Hollow. Leaving the grove is the best option. How can I help? Is the best option to choose in this quest. The goblins block the roads, so Zevlor and the refugees cannot leave the area. Defeat the goblin leaders can cause tieflings to safely leave. Now, you must leave for the goblin camp to defeat the leaders. You can also start this quest by killing the druids in the grove.
Enter the Goblin Camp
Move to the west from the Druids’ Grove and pass through the stone bridge. You will ultimately reach a small village. The goblin camp is further west from here, so you can fight or make your way into the village. The other way to reach the camp is by letting go of the goblin Sazza from the makeshift prison in Druids’ Grove. You can follow the quest marker on him and make a safe entrance into the camp without being caught. However, if you do not free the goblin Sazza, then you need to talk to the goblins guarding the camp to enter.
Move to the northwest across another bridge to make an entry into the goblin camp from the ancillary camp. There you will find the Volo in the courtyard who will be performing for the goblins. You need to rescue him to trigger the quest. Move to the north through the double doors and get inside the Shattered Sanctum. Sazza will take you to Minthara who is one of the goblins’ leaders. She is the first one you encounter and kill. You will find several checkpoint encounters on the path to the proper Goblin Camp. You can approach these encounters with several different options.
A full-frontal assault approach leads to turning the entire camp hostile if an alarm drum is sounded. Use the dialogue Tadpole Power to cross all diplomacy checks. Drow has some special dialogue options that help bypass diplomacy checks. You can also avoid the checkpoints through Stealth or find an alternative path. You can take part in the camp activities if you cross the checkpoints and enter the camp proper.
The Shattered Sanctum
The Heavy Oak Doors (X: 105 Y: 454), the Passageway (X: 51 Y: 476) or the Cracked Wall (X: -106 Y: 481) are the three main entrances into the Shattered Sanctum.
The Heavy Oak Doors
Warrior Trinzas are guiding the entrance that is assured by Tadpole Powers or special dialogues from the Drow. However, if you fight these enemies, the other goblins in the area will be alarmed and you will find yourself in trouble.
The Passageway
2 Poison Mine and 1 Blast Mine are guarding the path to this entrance. Your party will be at the southeast corner of the Shattered Sanctum while entering this way.
The Cracked Wall
Except for piercing and force, the wall is an object with 22 Hit Points, Sturdy, and immunity to all damage types. You can use the Smokepowder Bombs or Eldritch Blast to break this wall as the items, spells, and abilities are a handful here. Use a Silence spell on the sleeping guards close to the wall. This covers a noise and a confrontation can be avoided. Selûnite Outpost in the Underdark is the fourth entrance to the temple. However, the door is inaccessible externally. You need to use Stone Discs or the wall Lever to open it from inside the Shattered Sanctum first.
Priestess Gut
You can find the Priestess Gut in front of the giant throne immediately north of the front entrance. She offers you the chance to brand the party with the Brand of the Absolute. She recognizes you as a ‘true soul’ and invites you to her chamber. Your party will wait outside of her chamber. You will be knocked out when drink the solution Gut and you’ll be a cage.
You need to fight Gut and her Ogre and an opportunity to break free. Maintain your strength when the Gut comes to see you the next day in the morning. An unknown assassin will fight with her and the Ogre, making this the best way to kill the Gut without making any noise or raising any alarm. Make your way towards the stairs on the left side of the prison and assemble your allies to get through the north of the sanctum to encounter Dror Ragzlin.
Dror Ragzlin
Note that the room is filled with goblins, a dead Mind Flayer, and a hobgoblin, Dror Ragzlin himself. Dror Ragzlin allows you to explore the area freely. The fight will be intense and every person in that room will turn on you and will attack you. Use the explosive barrels to deal with these enemies. Move to the ladders and use this high-ground opportunity to attack them from a safe distance. Launch a sneak attack on Dror Ragzlin and use multiple explosive barrels to defeat the Dror Ragzlin. The turn-based mode allows you to deal with this leader more effectively.
Maintain your strongest character near one of the ladders, so they can kill enemies off as they try to climb to you. This is the best way to kill enemies with low health. If one of your allies is rogue, then you and your ally can rain arrows down on the enemies to make quick work. Killing his weaker soldiers ensures that you will receive fewer attacks as Dror Ragzlin himself is pretty strong. Use any AoE spells or throwables to defeat him fast. You can revive some of your fallen characters to keep them at 1 health. The height advantage allows you to force the enemy to waste several attacks.
After winning the intense fight, take Dror Ragzlin’s key and open the door behind his throne. The door will lead you to the large pile of treasure, containing gold, gems, a piece of infernal iron, and gear pieces. The gear pieces include the Gloves of the Growling Underdog, Springstep Boots, and the Amulet of Selune’s Chosen. You can take a long rest as the final leader, Minthara isn’t too difficult to kill.
Minthara
Deal with the Scrying Eye before defeating Minthara or else the whole camp will be alerted. After defeating it, you need to deal with the Minthara and her minions. The other two leaders can still be dealt with stealthily. Once you knock her out with non-lethal melee attacks, she can be recruited as a Companion in Moonrise Towers in Act Two. You can find her just east of Dror Ragzlin’s chamber. Minthara has few allies around, so use the rafters in Dror Ragzlin’s room to get to Minthara’s position. We recommend you push her into one of the pits near her dwelling to finish her off.
Return to the Grove
Once you defeat all three goblin leaders, make your way back to the Druids’ Grove or you can also free Halsin for your rewards. You will encounter some goblins at the front door, so use the fast travel method to leave this area. Talk to the Zevlor and acquire the pack of goods that he and the tieflings gathered for you. Completing all these steps will resolve the Save the Refugees quest.
