How To Craft the Potion of Slowness
In Minecraft, brewing potions begins with gathering the necessary ingredients and placing them into the brewing stand. Unlike many other potions, you do not need an awkward potion to create the potion of slowness. Here are the ingredients and steps required:
- Set up your brewing stand.
- Place either a potion of swiftness or a potion of leaping in any of the three slots at the bottom.
- Add blaze powder to the slot on the left to fuel the brewing stand.
- Place a fermented spider eye in the top slot to begin the brewing process.
- Once brewing is complete, collect the three potions and add them to your inventory.
The resulting potions will have a light purple tint. You can brew a level 1 or level 2 potion of slowness, depending on the level of the base potion you used.
How Does the Potion of Slowness Work?
- Add redstone dust to increase the slowness duration from 1 minute and 30 seconds to 4 minutes.
- Add glowstone dust to amplify the slowness effect from 15% to 60%, while reducing the duration from 1 minute and 30 seconds to 20 seconds.
The potion of slowness is useful when escaping large groups of mobs. As a splash potion, it can be thrown at enemy mobs to slow them down, making it easier to escape overwhelming encounters. With even a 15% speed reduction, mobs will struggle to keep up. This is particularly useful against fast mobs like endermen.
Additionally, the potion can help players navigate tricky terrain. Slower movement allows for more control when jumping between blocks, reducing the chance of falling. When used strategically, the potion of slowness becomes a valuable power-up that enhances your survival.
