The Betrayal of Felassan must be defeated to progress ahead in the Heart of Corruption quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard has several bosses and enemies that put players and their combat skills to the test. The Betrayal of Felassan, however, amps this up to a whole new degree and can pose a roadblock for players who haven’t truly mastered the game’s combat. The boss also cannot be skipped if you wish to complete the Heart of Corruption quest, as you require Betrayal of Felassan’s essence. Despite the difficulty, however, the boss is balanced and has some weaknesses that can be exploited if you show patience. In this guide, we shall go over the Betrayal of Felassan boss in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, where to find him, and how to defeat him.
Where To Find Betrayal of Felassan
The Betrayal of Felassan rests past the Gate of Deep Sorrows in the Converged City at the Crossroads. However, the gate is locked and blocks access to the boss. To open the path, you require the Essence of the Champion. This essence is dropped by Desmal.
Head to Treviso to find and defeat Desmal and obtain the Essence of the Champion. Desmal is a Level 25 boss, so we recommend preparing accordingly. Head back to the Gate of Deep Sorrows after obtaining the essence to unlock the path to the Betrayal of Felassan.
How To Defeat Betrayal of Felassan
The Betrayal of Felassan is an unpredictable bag of tricks, but not so without exploitable weaknesses. The Betrayal of Felassan is an ice-wielding boss weak to both Necrotic damage and fire. We recommend building your offense around fire-based attacks and bringing Taash as a companion for this fight. Necrotic damage works just as well, so your choice of elemental damage is purely on personal preference.
The boss hits hard and has a variety of moves you need to be on the lookout for. The boss wields a spear and a shield and is well-equipped to block all your attacks. Furthermore, he summons a legion of Superior Undead Warriors to assist him in battle. We recommend parrying or dodging his spear attacks and using the opening to deal large chunks of damage.
For the undead, we recommend staying on the move so as to not be overwhelmed. In the late stages of the fight, the Betrayal of Felassan will go into a recharge state and will be immune to all attacks. Use this window to wipe out the undead mob. Once the boss recharges, rinse and repeat with the spear dodges and parries and exploit openings to clinch the victory.
