How to Get Raven Gloves in BG3?
To get the Raven Gloves in BG3, you must find He Who Was on the Shadowed Battlefield, then receive and complete the Punish the Wicked quest to get the gloves as a quest reward. You must choose certain dialogue options in order to receive the Raven Gloves at the end of this quest. The Raven Gloves cannot be stolen from He Who Was. Additionally, if you kill him before completing the quest, then you cannot loot the gloves from him either.
Step 1- Find He Who Was
He Who Was can be found out by himself in the Ruined/Shadowed Battlefield, on the far east side of the Shadow-Cursed Lands map. The nearest waypoint is the Last Light Inn. You can find him by going left after crossing the bridge to leave the Inn, and then turn right/east at the next fork in the road. He Who Was will be at the far east side of the map, where he has somehow survived the Shadow Curse and set up camp with a white raven familiar.
The first time you encounter him a dialogue scene will automatically trigger. Agree to help him and you’ll start the Punish the Wicked quest. The first step will be going to the Waning Moon distillery in Reithwin Town to find Madeline’s Ledger.
Step 2- Find the Ledger at the Waning Moon
To reach Reithwin Town you’ll need to travel to the southwest portion of the Act 2 map. The Waning Moon is a distillery that is just to the west of the Moonrise Towers waypoint. If you haven’t gotten one already, you’ll need a Moonlantern to reach this area deep in the Shadow Curse.
Inside the ground floor of the distillery, you’ll meet Thisobald Thorm, who automatically asks you to sit down at the bar and drink with him. You’ll have to either pass a series of three increasingly difficult Constitution or Sleight of Hand DC checks or fight him. If you can pass all three dialogue checks then Thisobald will drink himself to death and you can avoid the fight.
After Thisobald has been dealt with, walk with your party just to the left of where he originally stood at the bar. Hopefully, at least one party member will pass the Perception Check to highlight the Loose Plank. Open the plank to find Madeline’s Ledger inside. Then, you can return to He Who Was to complete the quest.
Step 3- Finish Punish the Wicked
Return to He Who Was with Madeline’s Ledger and he will immediately know you have it. Now, he will cast a spell so that you can speak to Madeline through him. You are to be her judge and you can punish her, or forgive her. However, if you choose to forgive Madeline, you will not receive the Raven Gloves.
Therefore, you will need to punish Madeline. In this case, you can choose to either tell her to stab herself or call her a coward. Either option will satisfy He Who Was, and he will give you the Raven Gloves as a reward.
How to Use Raven Gloves in BG3?
The best way to use the Raven Gloves in BG3 is by equipping them to a summoning class like Circle of the Moon Druid or Necromancy Wizard. Thematically, this little raven summon ally fits best with these builds. However, you can easily equip these gloves to any class or companion because they have no proficiency restrictions.
Because the raven summons has such a low HP, it is unlikely to stay alive for long. More than likely, one hit from an enemy will kill it. The real benefit from Quothe the Raven is that on death, it has a chance to Ensnare the one who killed it. If successful, this condition will cause the creature to attack with Disadvantage. Moreover, you can then attack it with Advantage for as long as the condition lasts.
