In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Ring of Truthfulness is a useful accessory to equip to your main dialogue character due to its Advantage bonus to dice rolls on Insight checks. In the game, Insight is a Wisdom skill. Backgrounds such as Acolyte and Guild Artisan can offer you Proficiency in Insight. Additionally, most classes (other than Barbarian and Warlock) can choose an Insight proficiency bonus at Level 1.
Insight checks most often roll automatically during dialogue cut scenes. Successful rolls will grant you insight into how the speaking NPC might be really thinking or feeling. Do their words match their thoughts? Thus, you can tailor your responses to possibly get more information out of them.

How to Get Ring of Truthfulness in Baldur’s Gate 3
To get the Ring of Truthfulness in Baldur’s Gate 3 you must find the Abandoned Windmill in the Rivington area of Act 3, and take the ring from the newly hatched mindflayer in the basement. To locate the Abandoned Windmill, you need to head north of Arfur’s Mansion and circle around to the north side. There will be a pathway up to the entrance. There isn’t much space inside, but you will find a hatch that leads down into the basement.
You will find a Level 8 mind flayer brain-starved and sleeping in the space below. Moreover, given the lower level and the fact that it is alone, it is extremely easy to take it down. The fight shouldn’t last long, and afterward, you can loot the body to claim the Ring of Truthfulness.
