Forged in torment and bound to dark forces, the Shattered Flail is not for the faint of heart. In Baldur’s Gate 3, this cursed weapon offers more than just brute force, it comes with a dangerous allure and unique effects that can turn the tide of battle in unexpected ways. Ideal for players who embrace risk and chaos, the Shattered Flail rewards boldness but demands caution. In this guide, we’ll explore the Shattered Flail, how to acquire it, and tips for using it effectively in Baldur’s Gate 3.
What is the Shattered Flail in BG3?

In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Shattered Flail has the fantastic bonus of being able to heal you each time you hit an enemy with this weapon. With the Yeenoghu’s Gift perk, each time you hit an enemy you have a chance to heal for 1-6 points of health. However, this potentially overpowered weapon comes with a risk. If you don’t continue to hit an enemy each turn, then you have a chance to go Mad.
Madness is a Condition in BG3 that causes you to lose control and become hostile to everyone in the vicinity. Hostile creatures generally attack whoever is first in their line of sight. The only way to see another creature’s line of sight is by crouching using the Hide action. Then, the red cone on the ground in front of your target will show you where they are looking.
Unfortunately, there is no easy way to cure the Madness debuff on yourself or a party member. There are no spells, potions, or elixirs that will clear this condition, either. Therefore, using this flail can be risky. You must make sure that your character hits something each turn of combat, or your whole party may go down.
