How to Get Shifting Corpus Ring in Baldur’s Gate 3

In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Shifting Corpus Ring is a great ring for mobility and it can be acquired in Act 2 – this short Guide explains everything you need to know about Shifting Corpus Ring in BG3.

Baldur's Gate 3 Shifting Corpus Ring

Shifting Corpus Ring

In Baldur’s Gate 3 the Shifting Corpus Ring is an incredibly versatile accessory piece which can be used on many different types of builds to improve their mobility in combat. The ring provides access to two different spells: Invisibility and Blur. The Invisibility spell causes a creature you touch (including yourself) to turn Invisible. Attacks against it have Disadvantage. It attacks with Advantage. The Blur spell causes attackers have to Disadvantage on Attack Rolls against you. Each of these spells can be cast once per Long Rest.

These two spells can provide great mobility on the field, and can be used offensively or defensively. Rangers and Rogues, for example, are two classes which greatly rely on attacking from stealth in order to generate high damage. In situations where there isn’t nearby cover to hide behind, using the Invisibility spell would be a great way to regain the Advantage of attacking from stealth.

Wizards, Sorcerers and other spellcasting classes could also make good use of this ring. They would likely be using the ring more defensively, the spells providing a way to either protect them from melee pressure when surrounded (Blur) or giving them a way to get away from the fray without the risk of Opportunity Attacks (Invisibility).

How to Get Shifting Corpus Ring in Baldur’s Gate 3

To get the Shifting Corpus Ring in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll need to choose to side against Flaming Fist Marcus when he returns to attack Isobel at the Last Light Inn during Act 2. You can find the Last Light Inn in the north of the Shadow-Cursed Lands. When you first visit, you’ll have to convince Jaheira you’re not one of the Absolute cultists. During this exchange, a man named Flaming Fist Marcus may step forward and recognize you as a fellow True Soul. Turns out that he’s a spy/agent working for the Absolute. You can choose to conspire with him or tell Jaheira about his real allegiances.

Making the second choice will cause him to summon up a bunch of creepy, but relatively weak ‘hand’ creatures. He’ll fly off, but don’t worry, there will be another chance to fight him later. On this first visit to the Last Light Inn, be sure to have follow up conversations with Jaheira and then head upstairs and out onto the wooden balcony to meet Isobel. When you’re ready, leave the Last Light Inn and explore more of the Shadow-Cursed lands. We’re not sure exactly how the next step in this storyline is triggered, but it probably requires at least one Long Rest.

Return to the Last Light Inn. Speak to Jaheira again and then go upstairs to talk to Isobel in her room. This should trigger Marcus’ return. You’ll have another chance to choose to side with him, but if you want that ring, then he is out of luck. He will call down several Winged Horrors who will attack your party, as well as Jaheira and the other Harpers at the Inn. It’s vitally important that you beat Marcus as quickly as possible. His primary target will be Isobel, and if she falls, then the fight immediately ends and he flies away with her.

Baldur's Gate 3 Large Battle with Marcus for Shifting Corpus Ring

Once you’ve killed Marcus you’ll still have to deal with the rest of the Winged Horrors he brought with him. They’ll be scattered throughout the Inn and Jaheira and the Harpers will be doing battle with some. Take care of any in your immediate vicinity and then help out the others. Prioritize helping out Jaheira if you want to recruit her to your party later.

When the battle is finally over there will be a couple of automatic dialogue cut-scenes, but afterwards head back up to Isobel’s room and loot the Shifting Corpus Ring!
