How to Get the Steelforged Sword in BG3?

How to Get Steelforged Sword in Baldur's Gate 3

To get the Steelforged Sword in Baldur’s Gate 3 you must enter the Blacksmith’s Forge at the Blighted Village and open the locked chest at the back of the room.

Step 1- Find the Blacksmith Forge at Blighted Village

The Blacksmith Forge in the Blighted Village is just a little bit northeast of where the waypoint for the village is. This building has two levels, and to get to the forge proper you need to unlock the Shabby Wooden doors that are just down the stone steps from the waypoint.

You will have to pass a 10 DC Sleight of Hand check to open these doors. This shouldn’t be too difficult for Astarion or another Rogue-build character.

Step 2- Find the Wooden Chest inside the Blacksmith Forge

To find the wooden chest with the Steelforged Sword inside, walk straight forward all the way to the back of the building. There are two wooden chests back here. The wooden chest with the sword in it is up the ladder on a wooden platform. Again, you’ll have to pass another Sleight of Hand skill check. This one is a little higher at 15 DC.

How to Use the Steelforged Sword in BG3?

The best way to use the Steelforged Sword in Baldur’s Gate 3 is by equipping it as a placeholder weapon for a Barbarian, Fighter, Paladin, or Ranger build. The reason for this is that the weapon does decent damage, but doesn’t offer anything special in the way of unique trait bonuses.

There are much better weapons that you will find during Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3. However, if you find the Steelforged Sword early on, it can be a good placeholder weapon for any of those classes to use until you find something of higher quality.
