How To Get the Rebreather in The Forest

Endnight Games’ survival horror game The Forest opens unique features with various tools and structures. While some of them give you protection, others are essential for progressing in the game. One such key item is the Rebreather. Equipped with air canisters and an in-built flashlight, the Rebreather allows players to breathe underwater for an extended duration.

It unlocks possibilities to explore submerged caves and uncover unknown treasures and mysteries. Obtaining the Rebreather is not easy in The Forest. Follow along with this guide to know the exact location of the Rebreather in the survival crafting title.

The Rebreather Location in The Forest

The Rebreather can be found in Cave 5, otherwise known as the Submerged Cave. Prepare yourself to put up a fight against mutants in the cave, as you will encounter some along the way. The entrance to Cave 5 can be found southwest of the map. Start with the Great Tree at the southern end of the map as the reference point—it’s near a yacht in the area.

From the Great Tree, head west for a few meters, and you will reach an anchor and a tent. Make your way north into the woods by running between the anchor and the tent. It will eventually take you to a pile of rocks. That’s where the entrance to Cave 5 is located. For greater accuracy, you can also use your map and compass.

You will find an opening with a climbing rope among the pile of rocks, which takes you inside the cave. Be prepared, as you will face two enemies immediately after stepping inside the cave. They won’t pose much trouble, so dispatch them quickly and move further deep into the cave. Follow the path until you see a wooden barricade on your right. Smash through the wooden boards and make your way to the next area, surrounded by several enemies.

Once cleared, use the climbing rope on your left to descend. Immediately, you will find another climbing rope; use it to descend further. From this point onward, there is no more fighting. Just follow the path, and you will eventually find a skeleton on your left. The Rebreather is waiting for you to pick up near the skeleton. Additionally, you’ll find some air canisters in the same spot.
