What is the Umbra Sword in Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered?

In Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered, Umbra is a one-handed longsword that deals good base damage and can also fill soul gems. The single bonus effect on this weapon will trigger the Soul Trap spell on a killing blow. Soul Trap is a spell from the Mysticism school of magic, and you can use it to steal a soul to fill a soul gem. Then, you can use soul gems to recharge your magical weapons. The cooldown on this effect is 120 seconds.
This bonus effect makes Umbra a great choice for melee-focused builds because they don’t have to worry about casting the spell. The sword will fill soul gems for you, so long as you have an appropriate empty one.

How to Get the Umbra Sword in Oblivion Remastered? Explained

To get the Umbra sword in Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered you need to defeat a Wood Elf warrior also named Umbra in the Vindasel ruin southwest of the Imperial City. The warrior Umbra is a Level 50 enemy and can be quite difficult to defeat. However, you can still claim the Umbra sword early by using a method that pulls her into the city where the guards will attack and kill her for you. If you are low-level, make sure you bring healing potions and/or restoration spells with you before heading out.
Step 1- Find and Enter Vindasel
The quickest way to get to the Ayleid ruin Vindasel is to fast travel to the Imperial City Waterfront, which is on a little slip of land to the southwest of the city. Then, turn around and head out the doorway. Jump into the water, and swim southwest across the water to Vindasel.
As you approach the exterior door, you’ll want to stop and skill the two Conjurers outside. Otherwise, they may make it difficult for you later.
Inside Vindasel you’ll mostly be facing easy rat enemies. The first major room has a floor spike trap, and the second room has a poison trap. Keep making your way to the very back of the ruin where you will find Umbra. Hit her once to aggro her, and then immediately turn around and run back through the ruin and out the door.
Step 2- Run to the Imperial City Talos Plaza District
Next, your strategy is to run north along the lake until you get to the bridge that goes straight east into the Imperial City Talos Plaza District. You must keep aggro on Umbra, as she should follow you out into the overland world. Unless your Speed and Athletics are really high, you are not likely to outrun her.
Head north along the banks of the lake, healing and checking your map as needed. When the connecting bridge appears, turn east onto it and run to the city entrance.
Finally, once you get inside, run straight forward past the first set of guards and into the plaza with the dragon statue. Stay there and circle around the dragon statue. It may take a minute, but several guards should all come running to attack Umbra. Keep away from her if she starts to attack you and let the guards do their thing.
After Umbra dies, you should be able to loot the Umbra sword, as well as all of her Ebony armor. You may want to crouch before taking it, just to check whether or not it would be a crime to steal it. It shouldn’t be, but if so you can wait until nobody is looking to grab your rewards.
How to Use the Umbra Sword in ESOR?

The best way to use the Umbra sword in Elder Scroll Oblivion Remastered is by equipping it to any melee class that has Blade as a major skill. These classes include Acrobat, Archer, Assassin, Barbarian, Bard, Battlemage, Crusader, Knight, Nightblade, Rogue, Scout, Spellsword, and Warrior. Some of the builds for these classes may focus on other weapon types, depending on your playstyle. However, Barbarian, Battlemage, Crusader, Knight, Spellsword, and Warrior are very strong candidates for using the Umbra sword.
Moreover, to get the most out of the Umbra sword you’ll want to make sure that you have empty soul gems on hand. Otherwise, the Soul Trap bonus will go to waste. These soul gems can then be used to recharge the sword or to create enchanted items.
Tips and Tricks for Umbra Sword in Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered
These are the best tips and tricks for finding and using Umbra Sword in Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered:
- You can also stay inside Vindasel and try to use the spike trap to kill Umbra. However, this strategy didn’t work very well for us, the spikes didn’t seem to deal much damage.
- If you wait until you are Level 15 to get the Umbra sword, it will have better stats, than if you acquire the sword earlier.
- However, Umbra is a great early game sword and you can acquire it as early as Level 1. Furthermore, a Level 1 Umbra sword and a Level 14 Umbra sword will have the same stats.
- Umbra is part of the Clavicus Vile quest, and you will need to turn it over to receive the Masque of Clavicus Vile. However, you can refuse to do so (or just never visit the altar) and keep the sword.
Umbra Sword Console Command Code in ESOR
The Console Command Code you use to automatically place Umbra in your inventory is: player.additem 00026B22 1
To use console commands in Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered, you must be on PC and press the tilde (~) or the slash (/) key on your keyboard. The game must be open and running, and you must not be inside your inventory screen.
Then, all you have to do is copy and paste the console command for the gear item you want and hit Enter. You should see a text notification appear that ‘X item has been added to your inventory’.
