Unlock a new area in the Crossroads by opening the locked Gate of Lost Ages in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
The Gate of Lost Ages in Dragon Age: The Veilguard requires you to complete a quest to open it. It is located in Converged City, Crossroads. The entrance is blocked by Blighted roots, much like many other gates in Crossroads. However, like any other gate in the area, it can’t be opened unless you have the essence of a champion. No, you can’t just place any champion here.
Instead, this mission takes you on a journey to Dock Town or Minrathous. Follow the quest marker, and you will reach the Temple Courtyard. If you haven’t activated the beacon here, this location is close to the Central Market.
Removing the Roots From the Gate of Lost Ages
As soon as you reach the Temple Courtyard in the back, there will be a platform on the right with enemies waiting to ambush you. You and your party can easily take them on.
Now, head left from where you entered the back area, and the quest marker will show you a place to jump down near the Wolf Statue. On the left wall of this statue is a fast-travel beacon that you can activate if it hasn’t already been activated.
Jump down carefully and continue forward. Descend carefully and follow the only pathway down, the Blight Cyst will be right behind you when you reach the floor. Burst the red cyst open, and the champion, Quyn the Sparkwielder, will appear. Its specialty is the Lightning element and has some powerful attacks up its sleeve.
Defeating Quyn the Sparkwielder
Quyn doesn’t have layers of health but possesses a massive armor bar that you need to destroy. Naturally, it will resist by fighting against your party. One of its attacks involves Lightning splashes on the ground. These strikes come in succession, at least three times in a row.
Another Lightning attack occurs when the ground in front of it glows red in a line, and it pounds the ground with its sledgehammer. This also usually comes in a series of at least three strikes.
All of the Lightning attacks have an AoE effect that lingers. Steer clear of them to avoid receiving damage over time. Another tip: don’t get too close to Quyn, or it will go into a frenzy and swing its hammer recklessly.
Once Quyn is defeated, gather its essence and travel back to Converged City in Crossroads. Place the essence on the roots, and the Gate of Lost Ages will open.
