Here is everything you need to know about how to parry attacks in Dynasty Warriors Origins and master the art of counter-attacking.
Dynasty Warriors Origins has a robust combat system so you need to keep several pointers in mind. Apart from the basic hack-and-slash spams, other technical aspects, like your Battle Arts and Bravery, also play crucial roles. You will also have to keep an eye on the enemy’s Fortitude in order to defeat them easily. Parry is a simple mechanic that most players should be aware of, however, it comes with an interesting twist in this game.
Not all attacks can be parried directly in Dynasty Warriors Origins, but you can use Battle Arts to counter them instead. In this article, we will explain how you can parry attacks effectively in Dynasty Warriors Origins and explore other relevant information.
Parrying Attacks in Dynasty Warriors Origins Explained
You can parry an attack in Dynasty Warriors Origins by blocking when the attack is about to hit you. Simply put, you need to wait for the opportune moment and block the attack when you are about to be hit. Blocking too early will result in a normal block, and there will be no counter-attack. At the same time, if you block too late, you will take damage from the attack.
When you successfully execute a normal parry, you will be able to pull off a powerful counter-attack on your opponent. This also goes on to build your Bravery Points. Parrying does not consume any Bravery Points and is purely a skill-based move on your part.
Note that you cannot parry all attacks in Dynasty Warriors Origins. If your opponent’s attack has an orange glow to it, you will not be able to block or parry it. You will be able to counter these strong attacks using Battle Arts; however, the game does not consider this to be a parry.
How to Counter Attacks in Dynasty Warriors Origins
You cannot block or parry attacks that have an orange glow next to them. You can evade them, or, you can use your Battle Arts to initiate a strong counter-attack. The moment you spot an orange glow on the enemy’s attack, simply use one of your Special Battle Arts. With this, you will interrupt the enemy’s attack before it hits and deal a significant amount of damage. Most importantly, countering with Special Arts breaks the enemy’s Fortitude, which is a massive gain for you.
However, countering with Special Battle Arts also consumes your Bravery Points. The ideal way to balance parry and Battle-Arts-counter in Dynasty Warriors Origins is to mix the two techniques. Build some Bravery with parries, and then use these points to deal a strong counter-attack with your special Battle Arts.
