Planting and defusing the Converter is the primary objective in FragPunk’s Shard Clash mode, determining the round’s winner.
While FragPunk features various exciting game modes, Shard Clash is the most prominent. In Shard Clash mode, players are split into two teams—Attackers and Defenders. Like most other multiplayer shooters, the mode revolves around planting and defusing a device. In Shard Clash, the device is called the Converter.
While the mode follows the traditional attack and defense strategy, it comes with a new twist—Shard Cards. These powerful Shard Cards can completely modify the rules of each round, offering a fresh experience for players while they focus on the Converter.
Planting and defusing the Converter is crucial to winning in FragPunk, and here is how it works.

How to Plant the Converter in FragPunk
The main objective of the Attackers is to plant and detonate the Converter. Alternatively, they can win the round by wiping out the entire opposition team. Each round has only one Converter. As the round starts, any Attacker can pick up the Converter. The device will be dropped if the player carrying the Converter is killed, allowing another Attacker to pick it up.
The Attacker carrying the Converter should plant it in either A Site or B Site while surviving the battle. Press “D-Pad Down” on the controller or “4” on the keyboard to plant the Converter. These key binds can also be changed anytime via the settings.
Once planted, it triggers a 50-second detonation timer. The Attackers must defend the site from the Defenders attempting to defuse the device. Eliminating all the Defenders before the Converter is defused also secures a victory.

How to Defuse the Converter in FragPunk
As for the Defenders, the main objective is to defuse the Converter and prevent its detonation. Planting the Converter at either A Site or B Site alerts the players, with its location marked on the HUD.
Defenders must spot the planted Converter and defuse it to secure victory while dealing with the Attackers. Approach the planted Converter at the respective site and press the same keys as planting—”D-Pad Down” on the controller or “4” on the keyboard—to defuse the device. Alternatively, Defenders can win the round by wiping out all Attackers before they plant the Converter.
