In this article, we shall go over how to play Shard Clash in FragPunk, the game’s bomb/defuse game mode with cards.
After months of waiting, FragPunk is finally out on PC, and we cannot contain our hype and excitement. This hero-shooter with Roguelike elements features 13 heroes (called Lancers) at launch, all of which come packed with their own set of abilities. You get to test out these abilities across various modes, but the main one you’ll be playing is the Shard Clash mode.
The Shard Clash mode is the standard bomb-defuse mode of FragPunk. Think of it like the Competitive mode in CSGO, or the Bomb mode in Rainbow Six Siege. In this mode, the two teams are assigned the roles of attackers and defenders. The attackers are tasked with planting the bomb, called the Converter, while the defenders have to stop the attackers from doing so. If the attackers succeed, the defenders get a short window to defuse the bomb, failing which will result in a loss.

As stated earlier, the Shard Clash game mode is the standard Bomb game mode with teams of attackers and defenders clashing on a map. Attackers have to plant a Converter or eliminate the defending team to win. Defenders have to stop the plant, defuse the plant if it goes down, or defeat the attacking team to win.
While this may seem like a Standard Mode, FragPunk introduces Shard Cards to its gameplay. These are unique cards that teams get to draw, which then act as gameplay modifiers for the round. These modifiers could be anything ranging from fire damage, lightning damage, swap roles, increased ammo, and so much more.
Before each round, both teams will draw any three Shard Cards at random. Once the cards are in play, both teams can then spend Card Points to activate the cards and can strengthen the cards by spending more Card Points. Since these cards influence the gameplay, it is vital to invest correctly to throw the other team off.
