Want to get stronger by defeating hard bosses and getting more loot? Here’s a guide on how to increase Corruption in Last Epoch.

Last Epoch is an action RPG developed by Eleventh Hour Games that is widely loved by many gamers. Like most other ARGPs, Last Epoch also has an intricate endgame mode that you can grind out for better and stronger loot. The mode is known as the Monolith of Fate. In this mode, you can challenge various timelines in the form of tiles on a board, which are based on different maps.
Your goal is to find and defeat the boss of that timeline to progress to the next one. You can do this by traveling to that timeline using an Echo. The Echo is a device that takes you into that timeline to challenge various locations in it. As you branch out to further timelines, the difficulty also gets higher.
Initially, the game gave you the option to choose one of two Echoes after you defeated one. However, players wanted more control over their pathing, so now you can choose an Echo from a network of connected Echoes to challenge them. Here’s where the corruption mechanic slowly comes into play as you progress through the Monolith of Fate. To help you understand more, here’s a guide on how to raise corruption in Last Epoch.

Raising Corruption in Last Epoch

As you progress through various Echoes, you slowly start to gain stability. However, you cannot infinitely keep challenging the timeline tiles. After some time, you will encounter a special Echo called the Echo of a World. In this Echo, you can fight a unique miniboss known as the Shade of Orobyss. You get Corruption in the Last Epoch after defeating the Shade of Orobyss.
After you defeat the miniboss, the timeline resets and your corruption counter goes up. As the Corruption increases, so does the amount of health the enemies have and the amount of loot they drop. Normal Monolith only has a max limit of 50 Corruption. However, you can change it to an Empowered Monolith by defeating bosses in all three Level 90 timelines in the Monolith of Fate. Doing so breaks the corruption limit, and you can grind them out infinitely.
Best Way to Increase Corruption in Last Epoch

You can increase how much corruption you get from the Shade of Orobyss by getting stacks of Gaze of Orobyss. You get Gaze of Orobyss stacks by defeating normal bosses in the timeline. Each stack gets you 10 Corruption and is consumed upon defeating the Shade of Orobyss miniboss.
Another thing that affects the Corruption gained is how far you fight the Shade of Orobyss away from the middle of the timeline. The further you get, the more base Corruption the miniboss gives. The best way to utilize this is by directly going diagonally in a timeline to cover the maximum distance. Additionally, you should avoid Arena tiles as they take the most time and keep moving diagonally in one direction.

Why You Should Increase Corruption in Last Epoch
The reason why you should increase your Corruption in Last Epoch is to get more loot.
- As we mentioned before, the bosses get harder, and they drop more loot equivalent to how high your Corruption is in that timeline. This makes specific boss loot much easier to obtain.
- You can use your strong builds on bosses that can pose a challenge. Raising Corruption becomes a great way to check your damage in the endgame.
Finally, if you do not wish to keep increasing your Corruption, you can decrease it in the Sanctuary of Ettera Echo tile, which you unlock after defeating the Shade of Orobyss for the first time in Last Epoch.
