Learn to upgrade weapons and armor in Dragon Age: The Veilguard before going on your next dangerous adventure in the world of Thedas.
In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, regularly upgrading your weapons and armor is crucial for surviving the game. It is an important aspect of the game that players need to pay more attention to.
In a way, finding better equipment is also an ‘upgrade’ of sorts. So, whether you find better equipment out in the wild, in a treasure chest, or buy something from a merchant, it is still an upgrade. However, if you wish to level up your existing gear, there are specific processes to follow.
For starters, you can find duplicate items that you have in your inventory, and it will automatically level up or upgrade your respective gear. As the odds of that happening are slim, let us show you a simpler way.
Upgrade Weapons and Armor by Visiting This Friend
The best way to level up or upgrade the gear you have equipped is by visiting the Caretaker in the Lighthouse. Whenever you visit your safehouse in the Fade as you prepare for a quest or chat with your companions, feel free to stop by The Caretaker’s Workshop in the outer courtyard. A pre-requisite for this is that you must have completed The Singing Blade quest. It is pretty early in the game, so that shouldn’t be much of an issue for you.
Once you visit the Caretaker, you will have two options. You can either choose to UPGRADE or ENCHANT your selected gear.
In order to Upgrade, you only need to select the option and then select the item. If you have the required resources and if The Caretaker’s Workshop is at high enough level, you should be able to level up the gear in question. The gear’s number (mentioned on the right-hand side of its name when hovering over the item on the character screen) will go up by one.
As for Enchantments, they can be applied to one gear at a time, and you cannot apply the same one to other equipment. So, you can’t stack up perks and effects. However, you can remove and apply the same enchantment as many times as you wish for free.
Upgrade, on the other hand, doesn’t come free. You need resources like Heartwood, Imperial Weave, Flawless Crystals, and Ore. As you level up, the upgrade cost increases for rarer materials. You are also required to level up the workshop using Mementos for higher upgrades on the gear you have already upgraded. These can either be found via exploring or bought from merchants.
We hope you don’t sleep on weapons and armor upgrade after this thorough guide!
