Learn how to use Kick’s Real-Time Rewind feature to instantly replay key moments in live streams on the platform.

Livestreaming platform Kick has announced their new feature, Real-time rewind. Basically, if you miss out on a key moment during a livestream, you can simply replay the stream from the moment you want. This feature allows users to use the seek bar controls to rewind to a specific timestamp during the stream.
Notably, this is a feature that was requested for years on Twitch by users and streamers. This feature has long been available on YouTube, thanks to the platform’s video storage capabilities.

The platform showcased a clip from streamer xQc to highlight the feature. In the video, the broadcast can be seen lagging out and skipping forward, making the user miss crucial moments. However, the viewer can now rewind back to the specific time needed and replay those moments without having to wait for a VOD to be available.
In this article, readers can check out how to use Kick’s real-time rewind feature to never miss key livestream moments.
How To Use Kick’s New Feature
The feature is currently only available to website users and will soon be available on mobile devices as announced by Kick. Follow this step-by-step guide to use the feature:
- Step 1: Open a Live Stream. Log in to your Kick account and open your favorite stream.
- Step 2: At the bottom of the video player, you’ll find the playback controls. Tweak your playback options, which include quality options, clip features, and full screen or theatre mode. A seek bar pops up now for the viewers when you hover near the bottom of the video player.
- Step 3: Use the seek bar for precision, and drag the cursor to rewind to a specific timestamp. Release the cursor to resume playback from the chosen point.
- Step 4: To return to the live broadcast, look for the live button (usually located near the playback controls). Click it, and the stream will jump back to the current moment.
- Additional tips for using the feature: On desktop, some keyboards allow skipping backward using arrow keys. You can use the left and right arrow keys to seek forward or backward, skipping up to 5 seconds in either direction.
The feature does not work on the live chat. However, viewers can scroll to specific chats using the scroll bar.
Viewers React to Real-Time Rewind
After the feature was announced on X, many users praised the platform for implementing it before Twitch. Some users have suggested additional updates to the feature, such as adding thumbnails to the seek bar for easier navigation and incorporating buttons to rewind the stream by specific intervals, like 10 or 15 seconds. While others pointed out missing features like channel points, private messages, and unban appeals. Some comments stated:
“Bout time haha! Nah this is awesome! Another great step, gotta get in to the bigger things though, keen for kick 2.0 baby!” wrote @BigBoiPnut.
“still waiting for private messages, channel points and unban appeals,” wrote @bitasmietanka_.
