Dragon Age: The Veilguard is just a few short days away from its release. Marking developer Bioware’s first major outing since 2019’s Anthem, The Veilguard is one of the most anticipated games of 2024. Naturally, players are curious about pre-ordering the game on their platform of choice. However, deciding between the different editions on offer can end up being a rather daunting task for some. Similarly to most modern AAA releases, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is offered in two different versions.

There’s the Standard Edition that comes with the base game and the pre-order bonus, which is offered to those who pre-purchase the title prior to its release date. Also, there’s the Deluxe Edition, which comes with everything in the Standard Edition and a few extra goodies.

Here’s everything you need to know about Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s different digital versions. We will also assess whether it’s worth spending extra to get the Deluxe Edition.

Should You Buy Dragon Age: The Veilguard Deluxe Edition?

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Deluxe Edition costs $20 more than the Standard Edition. And, for the additional $20, you get a few exclusive cosmetics for the Rook, weapons, and, also, companions. While these cosmetics certainly look quite good, they aren’t worth the extra money. As such, it’s not worth getting The Veilguard’s Deluxe Edition, not at full price anyway. It doesn’t offer any “early access” or “advanced access” incentives either.

The $20 asking price for just cosmetics is a bit too steep. If the Deluxe Edition had cost $10 more than the Standard Edition, it would have been a worthy buy for fans who want access to all the exclusive outfits from the get-go.

You should not shell out an extra $20 for cosmetics that will wear out their novelty once you start unlocking new outfits and armor sets in the game. Dragon Age: The Veilguard, at its core, is an action RPG. As such, finding new armor sets and cosmetics that outclass the Deluxe Edition exclusives likely won’t be too difficult. If your primary goal is to get the base game, we would not recommend spending extra to get the Deluxe Edition.
