MLB The Show 25, the latest installment of Sony’s hit baseball franchise, is on the horizon. Developed by San Diego Studio, MLB The Show 25 is set to launch on March 18, 2025. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. MLB The Show games have maintained a tradition of releasing on Xbox Game Pass on day one for the past four years, starting with MLB The Show 21.
Xbox fans are accustomed to the approach and are eager about the upcoming installment. They wonder whether MLB The Show 25 is coming to Xbox Game Pass at launch. Unfortunately, the answer is no. It would be a disappointment for Xbox fans to know that MLB The Show 25 is not available on Xbox Game Pass on day one, breaking the long-standing tradition.
MLB the Show 25 Is Skipping the Day-One Xbox Game Pass Tradition
After being a PlayStation exclusive for around two decades, the franchise first arrived on Xbox consoles in 2021 with MLB The Show 21, launching on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Since then, Xbox Game Pass has included each installment on day one—until now. The four-year streak ends with the latest MLB The Show 25, as it skips the Xbox Game Pass day-one launch, leaving subscription service fans disappointed.
That said, not launching on day one doesn’t mean the game won’t join the service later. However, Sony may decide to add the game to Xbox Game Pass sometime after the release. MLB The Show 25 is not launching on last-gen consoles—Xbox One and PlayStation 4—making it only available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. While officially launching on March 18, 2025, purchasing the MLB The Show 25 Digital Deluxe Edition grants early access starting from March 14.
