Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 picks up right where the original game ended, setting Henry of Skalitz off into a new chapter of his life. The game’s story follows the traditional Hero’s Journey narrative structure, with several of Henry’s character defining moments split across multiple questlines.
Every now and then, while playing and progressing through the questlines, you come across the “Crucial Points.” This is where the game warns you that you are at a point of no return and instills fear into you. These points of no return are where Henry’s story takes sharp turns and drastically changes the landscape of the world and the narrative. The narrative consequences of these story events lock you out of certain regions and quests, thereby earning their reputation as points of no return.
Once you pass one of these points, you are railroaded through the story. You will be stuck with the story missions and will be locked out of side quests during this period. These points also act as a warning for the challenges coming up ahead. Hence, it is important to prepare yourself with the right gear before you proceed with these points. There are two points of no return in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 that you need to watch out for. The first of these happens in Trosky, where you undertake the “For Victory!” main story quest. This is the ninth main story quest in the game. This quest sees Hans and Henry invited to a feast before they head out to the Nebakov Fortress. Once you begin, you’ll be locked onto this quest for a while and will lose access to some of the side missions, so we recommend clearing that out before you take on the quest.
The second point of no return is the Oratores quest in the Kutterburg region. This is the 24th main story quest in the game. You cross the point of no return after you return to the Ruthard Palace as part of the quest.
