Via Argentum is the seventeenth main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. In the quest, Henry will try to convince Kunziln Ruthard to help him save Lord Capon from captivity. But you will learn that to earn Ruthard’s favor, Henry must prove someone named Vavak is guilty of stealing silver from the miners. As long as Vavak is at large, it is difficult for Ruthard to help Henry in any way, so you will have to investigate and uncover the truth about Vavak.

Once you successfully prove that Vavak is guilty, he will get arrested and then eventually die. This mission can be quite lengthy, so this article will help you through the Via Argentum quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

How To Complete Via Argentum Quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

The starting point of the quest (Image via Deep Silver)

First thing first, to start the quest you will have to go to the Ruthard Palace and meet Kunziln himself. The palace is in the south region of Kuttenberg. The moment you enter the courtyard of the castle and after a cutscene, a fight will break out.

So, we recommend that you have your strongest armor and weapons equipped. There will be a lot of hostile NPCs in the courtyard. But don’t worry, your allies will help you out with fighting the enemies.

Track Down Christian Pisek

When all the enemies are dead and you speak to Ruthard for his help, he will tell you that first, you will need to gather evidence of the crimes of a man named Vavak. He has been accused of stealing silver from the miners as we mentioned before. And while he is in power, Ruthard won’t be able to help you.

The first person you will need to talk to after this is Christian Pisek. You will be able to find him in a mining camp northwest of Kuttenberg in a town named Grund.

Christian Pisek will be wearing a red shirt with a long hood, so it will be fairly easy to identify him. Speak to him and tell him that you are helping with the investigation regarding Vavak. Pisek does not like Vavak either so he will agree to talk to you and will take you to a private area.

Christian will then ask you to go and ask three miners about how much they mined. And then you will have to compare it against the entry in the mine book to figure out how much is being stolen.

Speak To The Miners

When you speak to the miners, you can introduce yourself as a scholar, nobleman, or Christian’s nephew. It does not matter which approach you choose and only determines how you present yourself to the Miners. The map will have all three miners marked. Go to the first miner and talk to him and if you win the following skill check then he will answer your questions right away.

We recommend that you use the Intimidation skill because it will be the easiest approach. However, if you fail, you can either beat him in a game of dice or bribe him. Either way, he will tell you that he mined thirty-four corves.

The next miner will be typically inside the mines. Venture into the mines, and you will eventually find Pavel because you will get to know that Paul died in an accident. Speak to Pavel and he will reveal that he mined thirty corves.

Finding the last miner can be tricky because he moves around the area and can be either inside or outside the mines. Follow the marker on your compass and you will track him down.

Again, use the intimidation skill to win the skill check and if you are successful, he will tell you that he mined thirty-six corves. However, if the skill check fails then you can give him ten beers from a marked chest.

After you report back to Christain, he will tell you that the mine book shows ten fewer corves than were actually mined. Now, you will have to talk to two people named Fett and Hermann to find out who is behind the stealing.

Get Into The Smelting Area

Follow the two markers on the map to find the two men. When you speak to them, both of them will admit their involvement and Hermann will reveal that he is the one who keeps track of the outgoing ore. But it does not end there. The men will also reveal that some higher-ups from the smelter are involved in the stealing.

Once you are done talking to them, go back and report your findings to Christian. He will tell you that we will need to check the smelter as well. Christian will then give you a letter which will be important later.

You can easily get into the smelter if you speak to the owner, Buresh, and convince him. To talk to Buresh, you will need level twenty charisma, and you will also have to dress like a noble. You will need the following to reach the required charisma level:

  • Hunting Cap
  • Burgher Coat
  • Gartered Hose
  • Riding Gloves.

We know that all of this can be a bit of a hassle, so this entire section is optional. If you do not want to take this approach, then you can just break into the smelter, but the investigation will be a bit harder.

Once you reach level twenty charisma, speak to Buresh and give him the letter Christian gave you. He will then allow you into the smelter grounds and you won’t be bothered.

When you enter the smelting ground, talk to Shima. He will be in the southwestern area. Shima will tell you that it is not safe to talk on the smelter grounds and you will have to follow him to a safer location. Talk to him outside the smelter and he will tell you to speak with someone named Volkmar.

Find The Evidence

Volkmar will be in the northeast area of the town near the horse trader. We recommend that you have your best gear equipped because when you try to speak with Volkmar, three of his men will attack you. You can challenge them to a duel, however, if you fail the skill check then you will have to fight all of them.

Talk to Volkmar again after defeating the enemies. He will give you a map that points to a mint where the stolen silver is stored. Additionally, he will tell you that Buresh is the one behind the stealing. After that, you can kill him or let him go for free or for Groschen.

The secret mint will be located on the east of Grund. You will notice a hole in the ground with a ladder once you reach the marker on the map. Take the ladder and go down. Eventually, you will find Buresh with three soldiers.

Now, you will have two options here. You can either accept Buresh’s bribe or you can fight the soldiers. Note that Buresh has key items for the quest on him, such as the Record Chest Key and a letter from Vavak.

You can either try to stealth kill him or pickpocket him. No matter which approach you take, make sure that you get those items. After that pick up the Secret Preghus Key from the table in the room and go to the end of the tunnel.

Report Back To Christian

There you will find two captive miners. Speak to them and they will tell you that the evidence against Vavak is in the locked chest in the same room. Lockpick the chest and you will finally get your hands on the Secret Mint Ledger with 200 Groschen. You can also free the prisoners, but it is completely optional.

Now, you can go back and report to Christain to end the quest.
