How To Play Jeff in Marvel Rivals
Jeff the Land Shark’s Mobility
Jeff is one of the fastest-moving characters in the game. Whenever he uses his Hide-and-Seek ability, he moves at full speed. You can further increase his speed by using his Healing Bubbles and then going underground for that extra movement. If he is getting targeted, Jeff can also scale walls while in Hide-and-Seek. This allows him to escape the brink of death easily and also get wherever he wants in no time. Apart from that, he can only tippy-toe around the map. His jump is pretty impressive, though.
Jeff the Land Shark’s Survivability
Our adorable baby shark has a base HP of 250. This makes him a “squishy” character that can be “one-shot” by Black Widow and Hawkeye. However, thanks to his Passive Ability, he receives reduced critical damage, allowing him to survive a bit longer if he was at full health before the shot.
Fortunately, he can heal himself when underground. So, if you escape after getting to critical health, you can simply let your dorsal fin distract the enemies. When getting targeted, wall scaling helps Jeff survive for longer than expected. Moreover, you can continue using your own Healing Bubbles when it is required.
Jeff the Land Shark’s Playstyles and Combos
Jeff is a great healer. So, you will benefit from sticking at the back of the line for the most part. But don’t forget that you can also deal decent damage, even better if there is Luna Snow on your team. So, try sneaking in a few water spheres at enemies when your teammates are completely healed. The best part about his arsenal is that Jeff the Land Shark has different ammo for both his primary and secondary fires.
One more thing that you will benefit from is if you get to the objective and scatter all your Healing Bubbles around it. Communicate with your team to ask them to not pick up these bubbles when you or some other Strategist is healing them or when they are already near full health. Leave these bubbles for when you are busy escaping death, returning from spawn, or reloading your heals.
Best Team Composition With Jeff the Land Shark in Marvel Rivals
ROLE | CHARACTERS |
Vanguards | Groot, Hulk |
Duelists | Iron Man, Psylocke |
Strategist | Loki/Rocket Raccoon |
Jeff is pretty compatible with almost all team comps. However, having these certain characters will complement his playstyle as a Strategist and a healer. To start off, we have Groot. He can guard his backline pretty well with the help of his annoying walls that can deal increased damage to enemies. Jeff can also activate his team-up with Groot. On the other hand, Hulk will be the diving tank in the team that holds aggro for the most part.
For Duelists, Iron Man can soar through the skies and deal damage to the enemy backlines from a distance without getting shot that much. He can also quickly cover distances to help out Jeff whenever he is in need. Psylocke will do mostly the same work of covering Jeff, but she can help out Groot with damaging the frontline instead.
Lastly, Strategists like Loki or Rocket Raccoon can help heal allies that Jeff can’t get to quickly enough. Loki can either deploy his clones to do his dirty work, or Rocket can send his spheres wherever they are needed and also establish his relay to revive his teammates.
Jeff Counters in Marvel Rivals
Since Jeff can heal himself pretty quickly and move around swiftly, putting him down will require characters who can either deal great damage in a short amount of time or maintain DPS over time. These are the following heroes:
- Hawkeye
- Black Widow
- Scarlet Witch
- Cloak & Dagger
- Peni Parker
- Iron Fist
- Iron Man
Characters like Iron Man and Peni Parker can deal significant AoE damage with their primary and mine attacks, respectively. In fact, Peni can lay down her mines on point so that whenever Jeff consumes her teammates, the mines will explode, killing Jeff immediately.
Scarlet Witch and Cloak can use their primary fire to continuously deal damage to Jeff because their characters don’t require accurate aiming. This way, Jeff can die even while in his Hide & Seek form.
Hawkeye and Black Widow can try to head-shot Jeff the Land Shark for an insta-kill. This may not work each time, but whenever Jeff is already vulnerable, he will get picked off easily.
Iron Fist is a bit different from all these characters and is a brawler who needs to get up close and personal. However, since he can maintain pressure with his punches, he can be the perfect counter to Jeff.
Tips and Tricks To Play Jeff the Land Shark in Marvel Rivals
There are a few tips and tricks regarding Jeff that you should note down for more effective play as the character. Use the following to ensure that you support your team in the best way possible:
- Shoot Healing Bubbles at your teammates as they walk out of spawn at the beginning of the match. This gives your team an edge over the enemy as you reach the objective much quicker than them.
- Your bubbles work as a splash for your team. So, if you throw them at one person, all the surrounding allies will also receive the same effect without their effects getting distributed.
- Heal primarily with your water gun (primary fire) and use Healing Bubbles to boost your ally’s health right before you start reloading.
- Leave Healing Bubbles all over the objective to ensure that everybody can use them in times of distress.
- Don’t hit your Ultimate It’s Jeff! until you reach the enemy team. This is because they can disperse after hearing the “Nom nom nom” audio cue, and you will get only one enemy, or maybe none of them if you trigger the Ultimate from too far away.
- Try staying at the back of your line or at a vantage point when healing allies because you can easily get shot off by a high-damage character.
- If you have nowhere to spit out your enemies after swallowing them with your Ultimate, take them back to your spawn and trap them inside! If this option is not viable either, you can simply take them as far away as possible.
- Take a look at the enemies you have swallowed when you are on your way to dispose of them. If the characters have diving, swinging, levitating, flying, double jump, or dashing abilities, you must sacrifice your Jeff along with them because spitting them out will only let them back out.
- Lastly, when spitting out characters, try looking at the bottom of the void. This way, they will most likely die without you having to sacrifice yourself. Save this move only for the crucial moments of the match.
