Venom is one of the most iconic Spider-Man villains. The black symbiote made his debut in The Amazing Spider-Man issue 299 published by Marvel Comics back in April 1988. Since then, Venom has become an integral part of the Spider-Man mythos, and we have seen some version of him in almost every Spider-Man adaptation.

We now also see Venom as the Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 main villain and final boss. The PC port of the game is releasing on January 30, 2025, so we won’t spoil the story for you too much. However, we will discuss how you can beat Marvel’s Spider-Man 2′ Venom in this guide.

In the final boss battle of the game, we see Peter and Miles both going against Venom in an emotional and physical conflict. The Venom boss fight in the game has four phases in total. You will play as Peter in the first two phases and as Miles in the remaining phases. This boss battle will test your reflexes and your mastery over the game’s combat mechanics and abilities.

Additionally, Venom will force you to change the battle arena and take the fight to a different one. We recommend that you upgrade your suits and gadgets as much as you can before going into this fight. The Concussive Burst gadget will be helpful in the fight as it exploits Venom’s weakness to sound and vibration.

How To Defeat Venom: Phase 1

In the first phase, you will play as Peter in his Anti-Venom suit. However, we must warn you that Venom will remain immune to webs throughout all four phases of the fight, so you will have to rely on your own abilities and fists. Venom’s attacks are simple, but his ferocious nature makes him a formidable boss. Throughout the first phase, simply dodge his attacks and wait for the right time to hit him. You can also stun him by using the Concussive Burst or the Symbiote Abilities we mentioned before.

When you have landed a few hits, Venom will try to counter with his Crush Attack, which will be indicated by a blue ring around Venom’s head. Take a few steps back and dodge this attack. Look for an Oscorp Machine in the arena, and press L1 and R1 to use the machine to stun Venom. When Venom reaches around 75% of his health, he will create various symbiote mouths and cover the arena’s ground. When this happens, swing to the other arena closest to you.

Once you reach the other arena, the fight will continue as before. However, Venom will start to become more and more aggressive, and he will have some new moves, and these moves will give you a very short amount of time to parry or dodge. So stay alert and focus on avoiding them first, and only attack when there is an opportunity to do so. Once Venom’s health depletes to zero, phase two will begin.

Phase 2

Once Venom’s health reaches zero, a cutscene will mark the beginning of phase two. In this phase, Venom will spawn symbiote minions. These green symbiotes don’t have a lot of HP and can be defeated easily. But don’t let them distract you from the main threat. Take them out as quickly as possible and focus on Venom. You will notice that a black and white bar will cover Venom’s health bar, this is a symbiote barrier that protects the host at all costs.

Normal attacks won’t do any damage against the barrier. You will have to use sound or Peter’s symbiote abilities to make the barrier vulnerable before attacking. The police car, which is hanging upside down in the arena, can be used to stun Venom, just like the Oscorp machine in the previous phase.

Venom will allow you to land some punches once his barrier goes down. The moment you attack, a short interaction will show Peter using the Anti-Venom suit, stripping Venom of his defenses and draining his health. After this, the fight will be similar to phase 1. However, Venom will regain his symbiote barrier and spawn minions one more time before the fight reaches phase 3.

Phase 3

Phase 3 will begin with another cutscene. In the cutscene, Venom will grow giant wings and chase Miles and MJ across New York City. Players will fight as Miles now because Peter passed out at the end of the previous phase. In the beginning, Venom will throw symbiote orbs at you while flying. You will have to dodge the first two orbs, but you can throw the third orb back at Venom by pressing L1 and R1, which will stun Venom. This is your opportunity to web-strike him and close the distance to reduce Venom’s health even more.

However, you must keep yourself alert to his mid-air crush attacks. Dodge these attacks in mid-air, and eventually Venom will fall to the ground and allow you to fight him normally. Miles’s own abilities can be really effective against Venom. You can use his venom punch to electrocute and stun the Symbiote; it also deals a good amount of damage. Once you have done enough damage, Venom will grow wings again. However, he will follow the same attack patterns we discussed before. So keep hitting him until his health reaches zero, and then the fourth and last phase of the boss battle will begin.

Phase 4

Phase 4 is the last phase of the battle. Venom is aggressive than ever before, and he also has a lot of health. You will have to rely on your reflexes to dodge and parry his attacks, and we recommend using your abilities and gadgets as much as you can. Use the focus bar for health regeneration if you are backed into a corner.

Similar to the previous phase, Venom will attack both from mid-air and the ground. So follow the instructions we mentioned earlier. The fight will be relatively easier than before once you understand his attack pattern. There are two sound canisters in the arena; use them to stun Venom and keep repeating the process until his health depletes to zero.

After you land the final hit on Venom, the game will play a cutscene; this cutscene will show you the final moments of the game and tease what could happen in the future. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is coming out this January 30, 2025, for PC, so we won’t spoil the story for you anymore.
