Let’s explore all the game modes Minecraft offers and also learn about their unique features.
Minecraft is a wonderful game where players craft and build in the endless world. Players can create anything in Minecraft, whether it’s a normal house or a replica of the White House. Players decide how they want to experience the game by choosing the game mode they like. However, for some new players, choosing a game mode might be a little confusing.
In this article, we will learn about all the game modes and their features in Minecraft.
Types of Game Modes
Minecraft, being a sandbox game, gives freedom to its players, and to enhance this experience, the game introduced 5 types of game modes. Each game mode has different features and has something for every kind of player. Here’s the list of all the game modes:
- Survival
- Hardcore
- Creative
- Adventure
- Spectator
1. Survival
If players want a feel of traditional Minecraft, they should play the survival mode. However, it might be a little challenging for new players as they get randomly spawned in a world of blocks. When the night falls, players have to fight off various monsters and enemies. The game gives 15-20 minutes before the nightfall during which players need to collect food, items, and other resources. The survival mode is a classic, and every new player should experience this mode.
2. Hardcore
Hardcore mode is survival mode with the difficulty level set to hard permanently. Additionally, players cannot respawn as they only get one life in this mode. Players can do all kinds of things in hardcore mode, such as crafting, brewing, and enchanting, but they cannot apply cheats. However, players need to be careful as they might lose a good seed if they die once. This mode is recommended to those players who have experienced the survival mode many times.
3. Creative
This mode is for those who want to show their creativity to the fullest. With an infinite amount of blocks as well as infinite health, players don’t need to worry about trivial things, such as hunger and lack of resources. Many players make exceptional houses, and some experiment with the game’s servers by exploding a large number of TNT altogether.
4. Adventure
Adventure mode is developed to give a unique experience to the players. Blocks can only be destroyed with a CanDestroy tagged item, and blocks can only be placed if they have the CanPlaceOn tag. Players take damage and can get killed by monsters and other enemies. However, players can respawn after dying; the respawn spot can be set by sleeping in a bed. This mode is recommended for those who want to experience something different than the usual survival mode.
5. Spectator
Spectator mode was introduced in Minecraft 1.8 and is exclusive to Minecraft Java Edition. In this mode, players can freely move around in the world but cannot interact with anything. Players are immortal in spectator mode and have no health, hunger, or experience bar. However, players can not start the game in spectator mode; they have to start the game in survival or creative mode and then switch to spectator mode via the /game-mode command.
