In this guide, we shall go over how to change the rail speed in Minecraft using command rules so you can travel much faster.

Minecraft sees you dropped into a procedurally generated world filled with resources to scavenge and structures to build. As you scavenge for resources to build stuff, you will go from point to point in this massive world, sometimes straying too far away from your base. When the resources are collected, and it is finally time to bring them back, the journey back may seem too long, tedious, and tiresome. This is where Minecraft’s Minecart comes into play.
The Minecart, which runs on rails, takes you from point to point, saving you the trouble of walking on foot. But as convenient as this mode of transport may seem on paper, it is egregiously slow and takes seemingly forever to get you anywhere.
But what if you could change the rail speed and make the cart move faster? That would make the cart a viable mode of transport and make your travels easier. Thankfully, this is possible, but doing so may be a little tricky. If you’re looking to change the rail speed for your Minecart in Minecraft but don’t know how to do so, our guide is here to help. In this guide, we shall go over how to change the rail speed in Minecraft.

You can change the rail speed and make your Minecart go faster by using a gamerule command in Minecraft. But before you get to using this, head to the main menu. Go to “Create New World,” and click on the “Experiments” option in the next menu that pops up. After this, scroll through the menu and click on the “Minecart Improvements” option, and toggle it to “On.” This setting, which improves the Minecart and rail speed in the game, is set to “Off” by default.
Once the setting is enabled, head back and create a new world. Now, enter the following command: “/gamerule minecartMaxSpeed” and type in the speed you desire right after the “Speed” word in the command code at the end of the line. The speed can be anywhere between 8 and 1000. Take note that the command rule is case-sensitive and must be typed in exactly as given above.
