Here is a recap of everything revealed in the Minecraft Live 2025 livestream, from new features, mobs, announcements, and more.
Mojang unveiled a lot of details during the Minecraft Live 2025 livestream on March 23, 2025. The reveal was a mixed bag of exciting new content, mainly new mob variants and some visual and ambient sounds to make the game more immersive. A few quality-of-life improvements were also featured in the livestream, which can come in handy when playing multiplayer with friends.
On top of the new content, Mojang has a special gift for Minecraft Bedrock players. A special event will be held that is based on the upcoming live-action movie where you can get an exclusive and limited-time cape.

Minecraft Live 2025 Recap: What You Can Expect
First Game Drop of 2025 for Minecraft: Spring to Life
The Spring to Life is an upcoming update that has already been revealed in various snapshots of Minecraft. The upcoming update is set for release on March 25, 2025. It will feature a plethora of new additions to the biome, variations of mobs, and spawn eggs, making the environment feel more immersive and lively, even in the desert.
On top of that, Mojang adds more sounds like fireflies buzzing and moving particles like falling leaves. I guess you could say that this update adds a “spring of life” to Minecraft. This makes vanilla exploration feel more fun and immersive.
A Minecraft Movie Sneak Peak
Aside from the in-game content, the Minecraft Live 2025 also revealed a few never-before-seen clips of the upcoming live-action movie. A Minecraft Movie hits theaters on April 4, 2025.

Minecraft Bedrock Edition Limited-Time Event and Cape
Starting March 25, 2025, Minecraft Bedrock players can join a limited-time event where they can play minigames inspired by the movie. Participants who complete all the quests will unlock an exclusive cape for their collection.
But what if you play mainly in the Minecraft Java Edition? Fortunately, the cape is unlocked for both versions of the game after completing the quests. This means Java players won’t be missing out on anything and can still use the cape as long as they participate in the Bedrock Edition live event.
New Graphical Enhancement: Vibrant Visuals
Minecraft’s visuals are already aesthetically unique. However, you can enhance it further by installing shaders and resource packs or enabling RTX Mode for supported graphics cards. However, an upcoming update aims to integrate some of the key visual enhancements offered by these third-party features into the game itself.
The Minecraft Live 2025 unveiled a new upcoming update called Vibrant Visuals. This new graphic enhancement aims to apply realistic lighting to the game. With the right settings, you can see the sun shine through tree leaves or windows; light and shadows have more realistic behavior. With this update, you won’t need add-ons to experience Minecraft at the next level.

Second Game Drop of 2025 for Minecraft: Dried Ghast and Happy Ghast
The livestream also revealed contents for the second Game Drop. In the live stream, a new block called a Dried Ghast was revealed. You can find these spawning in the Nether near giant Fossils. You can pick this block up and place it in the overworld as decoration. However, there is more to this block than meets the eye.
You can pour a bucket of water on top of it to rehydrate the Dried Ghast. Rehydration will take time, but once the process is complete, it will turn into a Ghastling. This mob doesn’t do anything other than follow anyone he sees around the area. However, this is not its final form.
Feeding it with tons of snowballs can speed up its growth and turn it into a Happy Ghast. These giant smiling Ghasts don’t attack players and can’t shoot fireballs. However, you can craft a harness, a new crafting item, that you can equip your floating friend to ride it. They can be a handy companion for survival building as you no longer have to make 1×1 tower blocks or stack hundreds of scaffoldings just to reach high places.

New Feature: Locator Bar
The Locator Bar revealed in Minecraft Live 2025 is a new multiplayer feature that allows you to locate your friends in your world. This feature can be toggled off if you don’t want this feature to be added.
However, there are ways you can hide yourself in the Locator Bar. Crouching or wearing any player or mob heads, or even wearing a pumpkin hat, will prevent the Locator Bar from marking your location. You also won’t see players in the bar if they are behind you.
