Everything you need to know about the King of a Faraway Land event quest in Monster Hunter Wilds, including requirements, rewards, and more.

The King of a Faraway Land is easily one of the most challenging event quests in Monster Hunter Wilds so far. While the past event quests have been considerably more challenging than the quests offered in the base game, the latest set of event quests is admittedly a step up in terms of difficulty. The King of a Faraway Land pits you against a Tempered Guardian Rathalos—essentially a High Rank version of the monster. While the regular Guardian Rathalos is quite challenging, especially in High Rank, the Tempered variant is a significant jump in terms of difficulty. Not only does the Tempered variant have more HP and defense, but it also deals significantly more damage.
However, if you’re close to the High Rank endgame, you don’t want to miss out on this event quest. Here’s everything you need to know about the King of a Faraway Land event quest in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Requirements for King of a Faraway Land Event Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds

The King of a Faraway Land unlocks after you reach Hunter Rank (HR) 31. Once you reach HR 31, you can start the quest by talking to Alma and navigating to the Event Quests tab. Do note that the King of a Faraway Land is a timed event quest and is only available till April 16, 2025. Furthermore, if you’re yet to complete the main campaign of Monster Hunter Wilds, it will take some time to reach HR 31. Essentially, you need to progress through the entirety of the Low Rank campaign and reach High Rank. Furthermore, within the High Rank campaign, you need to complete the first couple of Tempered Monster hunting quests before you can reach HR 31.
Additionally, although King of a Faraway Land unlocks at HR 31, make sure to tackle the quest only after you’ve settled on a proper endgame build. Tempered Guardian Rathalos, and Tempered Monsters in general, are significantly more powerful compared to their regular counterparts. As such, it’s best to go into the event quest with a decent build that can go toe-to-toe against the monster. In terms of weapons, we recommend using Great Sword, Hammer, Hunting Horn, Bow, or Heavy Bowgun.
That said, to summarize, here are the primary requirements for the King of a Faraway Land event quest:
- Complete Low Rank campaign.
- Progress through High Rank campaign and reach HR 31.
- At HR 31, talk to Alma to start the event quest.
Tips To Easily Complete the King of a Faraway Land Event Quest

The Guardian Rathalos is already an incredibly powerful monster. However, the Tempered variant is a cut above when it comes to difficulty. Not only does the monster deal more damage with its attacks, but it also stays enraged much longer. This means you’ll have to deal with the Rathalos flying around for much longer. Thankfully, the Tempered Guardian Rathalos shares the same weaknesses as the regular variant. In fact, with the right use of your weapon and armor skills, you can take down Tempered Guardian Rathalos faster than its regular counterpart. Before setting out on the quest, make sure you’re carrying these things with you:
- Flash Pod
- Shock Trap
- Pitfall Trap
- Armorskin (Optional)
The Flash Pod is easily the most useful item while fighting the Guardian Rathalos, or even the regular Rathalos. The biggest hurdle melee weapon users face while fighting Rathalos is his tendency to stay in midair for a good majority of the fight. This makes it harder to land hits on the monster and also keep track of it. However, if the Rathalos is flying, using a Flash Pod close to it will immediately cause it to collapse down to the ground. This not only makes the fight against the Flying Wyvern much easier but also deals damage to it. Furthermore, you can also use Shock Traps or Pitfall Traps to immobilize the monster and deal damage to its head or tail.
Do note that breaking Guardian Rathalos’ wings can reduce the frequency of its flying breath attacks. Furthermore, breaking the monster’s tail can help reduce the frequency of its charging attacks.
Rewards for the Completing King of a Faraway Land Event Quest

For completing the King of a Faraway Land event quest, you’re rewarded with not only Guardian Rathalos parts but also Artian Parts. The Artian Parts, in particular, come in incredibly handy for the final stretch of Monster Hunter Wilds’ High Rank campaign. That being said, the Artian Parts you get from completing this quest are of Rarity 7, which are only useful until you reach HR 40. After that, you can simply use these parts to craft Rarity 7 Artian Weapons and dismantle them for parts.
