Starships make your long arduous journey in space much easier. In this guide, we discuss how to buy Starships in No Man’s Sky.

No Man’s Sky is an acclaimed open-world space exploration game. The game was released back on 12 August 2016. At launch, the game failed to deliver many of the promises it made about the graphics quality and overall gameplay. However, the developers at Hello Games did listen to the player’s feedback. Many updates rolled out on the game over all these years. All of them have now resulted in a true infinite space exploration, where not a single planet seems void of life and luster.
The universe of No Man’s Sky has billions of individual solar systems, with trillions of individual planets. Each of these planets comes with its flora, fauna, and ecosystem. All of these planets and systems are procedurally generated which provides a true alien-like flair to them. To explore these distant places, you need to have a Starship with you. These ships help you to travel through space and reach distant systems and planets. In this guide, we will explain how to buy your starships in No Man’s Sky.
Buying Your Starship

When you first spawn on a planet, you are given basic tutorials that lead you to obtain your first ship. This ship is a very basic shuttle of the lowest rarity. Keep continuing the main mission until the game directs you to visit a space station. At the station, you can carry out many activities, such as conversing, trading, and customization. Occasionally, AI-controlled ships will park inside as well. You can approach the ship and see the owner standing outside. Talking to them opens a menu showing the rarity and price of their ship along with every detail necessary for evaluating its price.
The price of the ship increases according to its rarity and modules. Better rank and better modules result in a huge price increase. You have two options when buying a Starship—you can either pay the whole sum at once or trade it for your ship.
Do remember—your ship is valued at 70% of its total worth. If you want to trade and your current ship appears to be at a lower value, you have to pay the rest of the amount in currency. Damaged components will affect the price of the ship. A ship containing half of the damaged components will also decrease its value by half.
More Details on Starships
Once you complete the trade, your ship disappears, indicating its transfer of ownership. If you don’t sell your previous ship, it will simply stay at the space station till you call for it. From here, you can transfer ship inventories and enjoy cruising through space in your new ride.
If you are looking for a certain ship, obtaining it can be difficult. In space stations, ships procedurally spawn, and your desired ship might not come up. You cannot buy living ships because NPCs do not fly around in them. Only players can obtain and fly living ships through other means.
