Discover all the methods to cure diseases in Oblivion Remastered using spells, potions, wortcraft, and chapel altars.
Journeying through the verdant rolling terrain of Cyrodiil in Oblivion Remastered can be a deceptively challenging affair. Beyond the packs of wolves, giant crabs, and thugs roaming the land, the region is a hotbed of diseases caused by its creatures and environment. Whether it’s Black-Heart Blight, Blood Lung, or Swamp Fever, diseases in the game cause significant debuffs and can be identified on the Active Effects page in your journal. Resisting such ailments is a matter of luck, but sooner or later, a cure needs to be found.
All Disease Curing Methods in Oblivion Remastered
Cure Disease Spell
A part of the Restoration School of Magicka, the Cure Disease spell lives up to its name and cleanses all diseases plaguing the character. Purchase the spell by talking to a priest at the main chapel of any major city. However, to cast the spell, you’ll have to reach the Journeyman level in Restoration. Non-magic users can skip spellcasting and dabble in alchemy for the same healing effect.
Cure Disease Potion
The Cure Disease potion has the same effect as the Cure Disease spell, regardless of the alchemist’s skill. To whip up the potion, use any of the following ingredients at the applicable Alchemy skill level:

You can also buy the potion from alchemy vendors such as Claudette Perrick in The Gilded Carafe. While a Cure Disease potion is effective, it is considered wasteful compared to the following method, which requires only a single ingredient and no alchemical knowledge.
Wortcraft
Wortcraft is the practice of directly consuming alchemical ingredients to receive their benefits. Since the Cure Disease effect provides the same benefit at any magnitude, simply consuming an ingredient with the Cure Disease effect will cleanse you of all diseases. Eating the following ingredients cures diseases:
- Clannfear Claws
- Mandrake Root
- Root Pulp
- Shepherd’s Pie
While the method is fairly straightforward, it requires collecting alchemical ingredients regularly, which may not appeal to all players. In that case, one can use the final method of curing diseases that is completely free of alchemy and magecraft.
Altars of the Nine
An Altar of the Nine is a place of worship found in chapels across all the major cities of Cyrodiil. Praying at the altar instantly cures all the diseases ailing your character. The Porphyric Hemophilia disease, inflicted by vampires, can be cured within the first three days by using any of the abovementioned methods. However, after three days, the disease turns into Vampirism, and you have to take greater measures with the ‘Vampire Cure’ quest.
