The Stadium Mode is a brand new game mode that adds new mechanics and aspects to the already existing game modes, such as Push, Control, and a few more. As you kill opponents, you get Cash, which is then used in a shop to buy Hero Items. Hero Items are purchasable power-ups that can vastly change how your Hero functions. Some changes are quite straightforward, while others alter the abilities completely.

There are a total of four sections, each offering different Hero Items that you can buy. These sections are:

  • Weapon
  • Ability
  • Survival
  • Power

However, you can only have a total of six items at a time on a character. There is a high chance that you can sell your purchased items to make slots for new ones as you progress through the Stadium Mode. With so many Hero Items in each section, you can create many different types of builds to counter your opponents.

Overwatch 2 is traditionally a first-person shooter. However, in the trailer, we can see some characters switching to a third-person perspective to utilize their abilities. This change can potentially alter how you play certain characters, as the third-person view allows for a broader view of the screen and better angles to target your enemies.

This opens up the possibility for many heroes to receive enhancements to their abilities, potentially transforming them into AoE attacks. Some examples are already evident from the trailer, such as Moira’s triple Biotic Orb and Ana’s team-wide Nano Boost. This concludes our article on the upcoming Stadium Mode in Overwatch 2.
