In Chapter 7, The Hollow, Zoe and Mio dive deep into Zoe’s subconscious. In doing so, they come across a watery ghost town that they have to navigate to find Zoe’s childhood home. After the Ghost Town section, you’ll proceed to the next mission dubbed Light in the Dark. The section takes the two sisters through an ominous cave where they come across creepy worms that are solely attracted to light.

In this guide, we’ll detail how you get through the Light in the Dark mission in Split Fiction, with details about the various puzzles throughout this level.

The previous mission, Ghost Town, comes to an end when Zoe and Mio knock down the chains holding a drawbridge and cross it. Unlike many other missions, this one has no cutscene in between. So, you’ll jump into the next mission straight through gameplay. In any case, watch out for the wooden drawbridge to know when you have transitioned from the previous mission into the Light in the Dark quest.

The mission begins with a bit of routine wall running and platforming using the floating golden spheres. By this point you’re likely more than familiar with these mechanics. Soon, you’ll enter a cave with a distant red light that can seem ominous. Both characters also comment on the same. Move across the ledges and interact with the gold sphere on your way down to bring out a worm-like creature. Don’t worry, it won’t attack you. Instead, you can jump on its back to get across the gap.

Repeat this process and maneuver the light to draw the worm in a way that also lets Mio cross. Using this method, alongside the catfish and owl, will let you get to a section with a few rocky pillars jutting out. Jump on the pillars and the chain in between to cross this section. When you reach a gold sphere that draws a worm from the skies, you can hook on the creature. As the light disappears, the worm will go back up, pulling both Zoe and Mio along. From this vantage point, you can jump on to the next platform.

In this next part of the Light in the Dark mission in Split Fiction, you’ll be much nearer to that ominous red glow you spotted earlier. Keep going up the ledge and stairs to reach a huge stone door. Use Mio’s owl to activate the sphere and rotate the inner part of the stone door’s symbol. Next, use Zoe’s catfish to pull the outer symbol and align it with the rest of the door’s symbol. It forms something resembling a snake (or of that monster you spotted in the previous chapter). When the symbols are aligned properly, the carving of the creature will sprout thorns along the body, and the door will slide open.

Go inside and you’ll arrive at a statue of a creepy double-headed centipede, with a broken ring floating in front. Use the golden sphere and owl abilities to bring the rings together. Doing so will trigger a cutscene that brings this mission to a close. It shows the centipede statue awakening. But, instead of being a threat, they seem to be old acquaintances of Zoe. They ask her to climb on their backs to proceed.
