The last act of Chapter 5 has you face off against the Megalith. Here is how you can complete the Megalith boss fight.
The Megalith boss fight of Chapter 5 is a fast-paced, high-adrenaline event across an eerie and misty atmosphere. The mission offers you multiple phases through this battle as you navigate your way across the colossal structure of the Megalith boss. Let’s take a look at how we can put an end to the wrath of the Megalith.
Split Fiction: Megalith’s Lair
The Megalith boss fight commences once we reach its lair. As soon as we fly through the top of the lair, the Megalith flies up towards you, knocking both your dragons and disembarking you both off their backs. The characters freefall down and land on a slope, sliding down and making their way through the rubble.
The Megalith will be a constant hindrance as it keeps crumbling your paths. You have to make do with the broken obstacles in the way, grappling and wall-running your way through. Keep following the path and follow the quick-time events. There is only one path to follow, which makes it easier to navigate your way through.
Once the Megalith breaks the last slope on your path, you both freefall again. This time, the Megalith comes back to finish the job. Before it does so, your dragons will distract it, allowing you to jump on its tail.
The Dragon’s Back (Left Side)
The second phase of this battle requires Mio and Zoe to make their way across the left side of the Megalith back, all the way towards its midportion. You will have to use your swords and slice your way through the pink shards on your path. As you progress forward, the Megalith regrows more spikes in your trail, not giving you a chance to slow down.
As you reach the center, you will see one of the Megaliths’ weak points, guarded by spikes. One of your dragons will come to your aid and burn the shield down, revealing a big purple orb.
Now break through the weak spot and defend yourselves against a wave of purple-sharded bugs. Once you shatter it, the Megalith will shake you off, having you both freefall again, this time being saved by your dragons. The Dragons will catch you and take you back to the Megalith.
The Dragon’s Back (Right Side)
This time, you will be running forward from the right side of the Megalith’s back. Your dragons will make appearances to break bigger obstacles on your path with their acid breath. As you scale your way up, you reach the second weak spot. Your dragons will come and break the barrier again, exposing the spot to you.
Once you destroy the second weak spot, the Megalith is further enraged. It tries to ram its back against a mountain in an attempt to shake you both off. Now, both the characters have to continue to make their way forward, breaking through the pink shards and avoiding the growing shards behind.
The Megalith tries to remove you once more, this time by flying upwards. Continue to make your way upwards as the shards are fast approaching from the back. Your dragons continue to aid you by destroying obstacles in your path.
The third weak spot on your path is the fastest to break. Once you break through it, a cutscene triggers. One of the dragons will fly towards the Megalith’s face, gnaw its eye out, and breathe green mist through the hole. The Megalith is dazed and now starts to fly downwards.
The Megalith Boss Fight
This act of the battle pays homage to The Shadow of Colossus game, more specifically, the boss battles. The battles in that game require you to be patient and scale the back of the Colossus in order to attack its weak spots and defeat them.
Similarly, during this phase of the battle, you are to use your sword and grip the back of the Megalith. When the timing is right, you slowly make your way forward till you reach the last weak point. Once there, your dragons will hold and expose the weak point, allowing you both to land the final blows.
The duo then escapes with the help of your dragons. The Megalith, with all its weak points destroyed, explodes mid-air.
