Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Overview

What is Jedi: Survivor?

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is an upcoming action-adventure game set in the Star Wars universe. It is a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and is being developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. Keep reading ahead for our Overview of Jedi: Survivor!

The game is set five years after the events of Fallen Order and follows Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan who survived Order 66. Cal must stay one step ahead of the Empire’s constant pursuit as he continues to feel the weight of being one of the last remaining Jedi in the galaxy.

Survivor will expand upon iconic Star Wars stories, worlds, and characters, and thrilling combat first experienced in Jedi: Fallen Order. The game will feature new lightsaber combat styles, Force powers, and abilities, as well as new enemies and challenges. Survivor will also introduce new characters to the Star Wars universe, including a mysterious new villain.

Release Date and Platforms

The game is scheduled to be released on April 28, 2023 for Microsoft Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Unfortunately for those who haven’t upgraded to either of the newer platforms, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will not be on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One consoles. It will only be releasing on next-gen consoles (and PC).

Characters

Jedi: Survivor will include many of the popular characters from the original game, including former Jedi Master Cere Junda, space pilot Greez Dritus, and the powerful Nightsister Merrin. And, of course, BD-1. Cal’s constant and helpful droid companion will again follow our hero on his adventures!

New characters in the game will include Bode Akunais. A mercenary and gunslinger, Bode will play a role as a companion character who aids Cal in both travel and combat.

The character of Rayvis appears only briefly in one of the trailers. We do not know much about him, yet, except that he will likely be an adversary.

Gameplay

Jedi: Survivor will feature new lightsaber combat styles, Force powers, and abilities, as well as new enemies and challenges.

Much like Jedi: Fallen Order, the new game is sure to include and expand upon the puzzle solving mechanics (often accomplished using Force abilities) and movement abilities which allow Cal to fully search and discover a map area.

Multiplayer

Much like it’s predecessor, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is strictly a single player, story driven game. Consequently, the odds are incredibly low that the developer would add any type of multiplayer to the game.

Any gamers wishing to battle ‘real’ opponents with a lightsaber would be much better served by playing Star Wars Battlefront II or Star Wars: The Old Republic.
