What Combat Skills can you choose in Starfield?
Starfield will have a multitude of different skills to choose from as you craft your character’s build around your preferred type of gameplay. Combat skills will focus on improving your character’s offensive and defensive capabilities. Each individual skill itself can be leveled up, in turn.
Developed by Bethesda Game Studios Starfield’s new release date is now set for September 6, 2023! Let’s take a look at what we know about combat skills in Starfield so far.
Starfield Combat Skills Guide
Here is a list of some of the Combat Skills which have been revealed in gameplay trailers so far:
Ballistics
- Rank 1/4: Ballistic weapons do 10% more damage
- Rank 2/4: Ballistic weapons do 20% more damage
- Rank 3/4: Ballistic weapons do 30% more damage
- Rank 4/4: Ballistic weapons do 40% more damage
- Unlock By: Kill 250 enemies with a ballistic weapon
Demolitions
- Rank 3/4: Explosives do 30% more damage and have a 30% larger radius
- Unlock By: Kill 125 enemies with explosives
Heavy Weapons Certification
- Rank 4/4: Gain 30 Damage Resistance when aiming down sights with a heavy weapon
- Unlock By: Kill 250 enemies with a heavy weapon
Marksmanship

Rapid Reloading
- Rank 4/4: Gain a chance to reload your weapon twice as fast as normal
- Unlock By: Reload 150 empty magazines
Sniper Certification
- Rank 1/4: Scoped weapons are steadier and have less sway
Targeting
- Rank 3/4: Greatly increased accuracy and range when shooting without aiming
- Unlock By: Kill 125 enemies without aiming
