A decade before the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the previous entry in the franchise held players accountable for their choices in the game. The soul of an RPG often lies in its rich and custom narrative that changes with the choices made. The first two big titles in the series didn’t cross paths except for a few connective tissues.

Dragon Age: Inquisition took a little leap by introducing the protagonist from Dragon Age 2 in the game. Now, there will be choices from the 2014 game that will affect how The Veilguard plays out for you.

Not all choices will have an impact, though, because the protagonist is not the same. However, since the story picks up from the little cliffhanger that Inquisition gave us, some of your past choices will matter.

Three Choices Will Majorly Matter in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

There were many choices in Dragon Age: Inquisition that mattered in the long run during the gameplay. As an RPG, BioWare gave us plenty of choices in their 2014 game, but not all of them would matter in the new one. Rather, there seems to be only 3 big choices that carry over to Dragon Age: The Veilguard. These choices are:

  • The Inquisitor’s romance partner
  • Whether you disbanded the Inquisition in the previous game or let it serve as a peacekeeping faction
  • Whether you saved Solas or tried stopping him when given the chance.

We have yet to see how these choices will play out in the game’s story and how it will all connect. The first choice means that the Inquisitor might make an appearance, either in person or in conversations. The second choice will essentially be about the state of Thedas when it comes to peacekeeping. The third choice directly tells us what the Dread Wolf’s stand will be in the latest game.

Either way, we expect the story to remain largely the same and not place anyone at a disadvantage because of the choices they made 10 years ago. Moreover, some players will pick up the story from Dragon Age: The Veilguard itself, so it would make sense if the choices only serve as connections and not alter major plot points.
