WWE 2K25 introduces several notable changes that refine and expand upon its predecessor, WWE 2K24. While it may not be apparent on the surface, the newer title has made significant advancements toward improving its core gameplay experience. Here are five major differences that set 2K25 apart as a landmark title:

5) Expanded Interactivity in Matches

WWE 2K24 made some major improvements to make the wrestling experience more interactive and dynamic, a trend that has thankfully been carried forward with 2K25. You can now suplex opponents onto the announcement table, and trash cans will be flattened when a wrestler is thrown onto them.

Ladder finishers have made a return, and under certain rare conditions, players can now perform a barricade dive. The game has a renewed focus on making each match feel like its own story, with even minor additions enhancing its fluidity.

4) Innovative Camera Perspectives

A seemingly simple yet surprisingly immersive change in 2K25 is the addition of new camera perspectives. Superstar entrances now feature a third-person camera, complementing camera angles from previous games. This gives the impression of a camera crew following the wrestler as they make their way toward the ring, hyping the crowd and taking in the moment. In Showcase Mode, the camera angles go a step further, with first-person perspectives treating us to the POV of wrestlers as they land their finishers.

3) Enhanced Blood Visuals and Body Damage

One of the most notable updates in the game is the overhauled blood and body damage. The improvements in blood graphics and bruising from 2K24 are dramatic, with the effects of prolonged and violent matches becoming strikingly evident. Unlike previous iterations, female superstars can now bleed during matches, which brings us to the next big change.

2) Introduction of Intergender Matches

A truly groundbreaking addition in 2K25 is the inclusion of intergender matches. Players can now fire up nearly any match type with a roster featuring a mix of male and female superstars, which is something even the real WWE hasn’t fully embraced. However, it’s important to note that while women’s matches can feature blood, intergender matches do not include blood visuals. For those who aren’t fans of this particular addition, there is an option to toggle intergender matches off.

1) The Island

Despite the controversy surrounding it, The Island stands out as a brand-new addition to the series. The game mode was heavily marketed with the game’s release, featuring a social space for up to 50 players. After creating their custom character, players can undertake various quests, challenge each other in matches, and customize their appearance. The Island has multiple themed districts and contains stores of real-life clothing brands.

Fans’ reactions have been mixed, with many apprehensive about the mode’s focus on Virtual Currency and microtransactions. Currently, the game mode is exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players.
