Monster Hunter Wilds has seen various improvements compared to the previous installments. While it features returning monsters, it also includes several new monsters in the franchise. Monsters such as Jin Dahaad, Arkveld, and Gore Magala pose a serious threat and offer great challenges to players.

On the other hand, defeating the following monsters is a cakewalk even for newcomers to the franchise. This article highlights the easiest monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds that are fun to hunt.

1) Chatacabra

Chatacabra is the first monster you encounter and arguably the easiest in Monster Hunter Wilds. It serves as a tutorial monster, allowing players to learn the fundamentals of combat. The giant frog-like monster inhabits the Windward Plains. The monster solely relies on its tongue for attacks, which also serves as its weakness. With limited attack patterns and a short attack range, it poses little threat.

Its adhesive saliva can add extra armor to its forelimbs, which can be broken. Staying aggressive and targeting its front allows you to deal high damage to its tongue and forelimbs, ending the hunt quickly. Chatacabra is also an ideal live target for experimenting with different weapon playstyles.

2) Quematrice

Quematrice is the next monster you face after Chatacabra. However, it is comparatively larger and capable of more powerful attacks. The Brute Wyvern’s primary strength lies in its flammable oil, which can ignite anything in its path. Carrying an adequate supply of Nulberries is crucial for curing Fireblight during battle.

The monster’s weakest point is its neck. Focusing on its neck also provides opportunities to target its head, which you can break to deal further damage. This giant bird-like monster roams in Windward Plains and the Ruins of Wyveria.

3) Congalala

Congalala is a returning monster that originally debuted in Monster Hunter 2. The Fanged Beast is relatively small, making it easy to dodge and counterattack. The giant gorilla-like monster can easily be identified by its pink fur and hippo-like face. Its primary strength lies in its debuffing stench attacks, which prevent players from using any consumables.

You will find this monster in the Ruins of Wyveria and Scarlet Forest. Staying aggressive and getting close is key to this battle, as it allows you to reposition yourself toward its weak points—head, tail, foreleg, and rear. Deal consistent damage to these parts while avoiding its stench-inflicting farts and burps.

4) Lala Barina

Lala Barina is canonically the third large monster you will face in Monster Hunter Wilds. It is a Temnoceran-type monster, resembling a spider with a blooming flower-like red structure on its rear. Striking its claw creates an opening to deal heavy damage to its weak points—tail and petals.

However, while its tail is a weak spot, it also disperses florets in the air that inflict paralysis when they land on you. Evading the florets while dealing consistent damage to its tail, petals, and claw will help you end the battle quickly. Lala Barina appears in Scarlet Forest and the Ruins of Wyveria.

5) Doshaguma

For the final pick, we have Doshaguma. While it is also one of the early monsters you encounter in Monster Hunter Wilds, it can be a little more difficult compared to the others on this list. Doshagumas, which appear like a blend of a bear and a lion, usually roam in a group of three, led by an Alpha Doshaguma, with two supporting smaller Doshagumas.

The efficient use of Dung Pods can help disperse the group, allowing you to fight them separately. Doshaguma is a large Fanged Beast that relies solely on its brute and raw strength and can be found in Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, and the Ruins of Wyveria.
