Weapons Choice

The crossbow is the main hand weapon for this build, which inflicts a weakened status effect and marks targets. Mortal Mark provides these two debuffs and increases your damage substantially. Additionally, Crossbow has some of the best mobility, and you can kite enemies in circles, maintaining damage pressure and moving into melee range to apply dots or a killing blow. However, the Crossbow won’t be able to heal effectively or provide area damage (AOE)

The off-hand (secondary) weapon is a Dagger, which inflicts poison damage and can also kill enemies below 50% health. The crossbow and dagger combo is helpful to keep up DOT pressure and kill lower-health enemies. This can be especially helpful while leveling and completing events in the open world, where skills are critical.

Swap in the Wand and Tome back bar if you struggle with survivability. The wand will give you healing and can carry your survivability while leveling or playing solo. Swap in the Longbow for more ranged damage if you want a pure-range build.

Stat Points

The best stat points for the Crossbow build are 10 Strength, 30 Dexterity, 19 Wisdom, and 30 Perception. Dexterity is your primary stat to increase to 30 and gain bonus damage. Next, max perception is 30 to aid in accuracy and damage. Lastly, put points into Wisdom to increase mana regeneration. If your mana regeneration is low to start, this will be boosted dramatically with the skill Mana Exchange at higher levels.

In Throne and Liberty, stat points are earned while leveling and increasing your effectiveness.  After you increase a specific stat to a level, you may be required to spend more stat points to increase it.  Additionally, you will receive an additional achievement effect when stat points reach a specific value.

10. Shadow Strike (Dagger) – this is your gap closer. You can use up to 12 meters to close the distance, and it pairs well with Brutal Incision on low HP targets.
11. Camouflage Cloak (Dagger) – the stealth ability that guarantees a critical on your first attack from stealth. Consider this a flex skill and useful for survival.
12. Mother Nature’s Protest (Crossbow) – Your best opening damage tool because it passively fires damage over 9 seconds but a massive cooldown.

Enemies will have a “Fury Attack,” a purple circle drawing down to a central point. You can defend against the Fury Attack by using your defensive skill at the precious moment for a perfect defense. Each weapon has its defensive skill, which consumes stamina instead of mana, shown on the left of your User Interface when used. Special effects occur when you successfully defend against a Furty Attack; timing is vital for maximizing your build’s potential.

1. Rupturing Parry (Crossbow) – the dodge roll skill is best because it grants mobility and health regeneration. You want to open with Mother Nature’s Protest (passive damage), then Inject Venom (debuff), followed by Mortal Mark (debuff delay damage). Playing in melee range from this point can net you increased damage, but it also comes with risk, so avoid it when your health is low.

The next series of attacks depends on the target’s health. If below 50%, close the gap with Shadow Strike into Brutal Incision. If not, play at range using Quick Fire and Recoil Shot to fill in the damage. Knife Throwing is a good attack at range to decrease the enemy’s movement speed. Maintain pressure with Inject Venom and Mortal Mark as they come off cooldown and fill in damage with quick-fire, recoil shot, and Knife Throwing.

For survivability, use Defense skills to create space or Stealth (camouflage cloak) as a last resort.

In Throne and Liberty, your rotation is a series of priority skills to use “off cooldown.” Most of the gameplay revolves around an opening sequence, followed by subsequent priority usage of abilities that produce the most damage, heal, or buff. Guardians act as a short-term ultimate or super ability with powerful effects and a long cooldown.  Ideally, you want to select a Guardian that either enhances a strength or covers up a weakness.  You obtain Guardians after level 25 and completing Chapter 25.
