This guide has been updated for the official global release on October 1, 2024.
Everything About Best dagger Build in Throne and Liberty
The Dagger build is unique in Throne and Liberty because it grants an invisibility skill, a passive critical bonus, and some of the highest damage in the game. For this PvE Build, we recommend using a Dagger with a Staff for a combination of damage types. The Dagger does great for single-target, especially when enemies are below 50% health. Meanwhile, the Staff excels at area damage (AOE), emphasizing status effects. Combining these two together allows for not only flexible damage application, but range as well.
The downside to the Staff + Dagger build is lower survivability. This PvE DPS rotation is dependent on status effects and triggering secondary attacks. Therefore, it can be somewhat complex to play. However, if you love flexible damage and builds, this is great choice.
Weapons Choice
The main-hand weapon choice for this build is the Dagger due to its burst damage, criticality, and ability to stealth. While the Dagger is a melee weapon, the passives are helpful for any build, making the Dagger useful in the main or off-hand with any weapon combination.
The off-hand weapon is the Staff because of its range and area damage potential. With Dagger + Staff, you gain range, AOE damage, single target pressure, and debuffs.
Another setup is to run the Greatsword in the main-hand and Dagger in the off-hand. This will have a lower range but greater survivability.
Stat Points
Dexterity is the best stat point to focus on for a PvE Dagger build because it influences critical, attack evasion, and max damage. The secondary stat to increase is Perception, which helps with accuracy, crowd control, and overall damage. Lastly, Wisdom is helpful for mana regeneration and continual casting skills. If you feel low survivability, use Strength instead of Wisdom to increase health and defense.
Below is the best recommended Stat Point:
- 10 Strength – increase defense, max health, max damage, and minimum damage.
- 30 Dexterity – affects critical attacks, evasion, and maximum damage.
- 19 Wisdom – determines maximum mana regeneration, skill cooldown, and maximum damage.
- 30 Perception – affects accuracy, crowd control effects, time boost ability, maximum damage, and minimum damage.
Active Skills
Below is a list of the recommended active skills for the Dagger Build in Throne and Liberty and how to use them:
- Cleaving Moonlight (Dagger) – this is your low cost, low cooldown, main filler damage ability for the Dagger. Use this mostly off-cooldown when needing damage.
- Inject Venom (Dagger) – Your skill to apply before combat to grant poison attacks passively. You want to maintain high up time for poison damage and build stacks.
- Shadow Strike (Dagger) – this skill acts as your gap closer and binds a target in place. You can use this as an opener.
- Brutal Incision (Dagger) – Your main burst single target damage skill which you want to use sub 50% health on enemies.
- Vampiric Strike (Dagger) – A good damage skill that returns some health to you.
- Camouflage Cloak (Dagger) – Your cloak or stealth plus it guarentees a critical on next attack. Use it as a burst tool or escaping combat.
- Serial Fire Bombs (Staff) – This is your main spammable skill for the Staff that can be used repeatedly. Use this skill to trigger burning.
- Inferno Wave (Staff) – Once burn has been applied, use Inferno Wave to do AOE damage in 3 meters.
- Icebound Tomb (Staff) – Your crowd control CC that triggers Frost status effect.
- Ice Spear (Staff) – A damage skill that applies Frost and slows down targets.
- Judgment Lighting (Staff) – Use this skill after you’ve applied Frost for 5 meters of AOE damage.
- High Focus (Staff) – Reduces cooldowns for you and party members near you, resulting in more damage.
Passive Skills
Below is a list of the best passive skills for the Dagger Build in Throne and Liberty:
- Assassination Stance (Dagger) – lowers the cooldown on Cloak when you avoid an attack.
- Wrathful Edge (Dagger) – passively boost critical damage.
- Destructive Fang (Dagger) – lowers defense when attacking target with poison or thunderclouds.
- Assassin’s Instincts (Dagger) – passively increases critical hit chance.
- Assassin’s Step (Dagger) – increase mana regen and move speed after killing a target.
- Asceticism (Staff) – passively boost mana recovery.
- Flame Condensation (Staff) – increase burning damage.
- Mana Amp (Staff) – increases max health and max mana.
Defense Skills
The best defense skill for the Dagger build is Block Blade because you can make yourself unable to be targeted and stealth.
Block Blade: Defends against attacks. On defending against a Fury Attack while stationary, 852 Mana regenerates. On defending against a Fury Attack within 0.5s, Block Blade changes to Poison Dagger for 3s. Wrath Attacks can’t be defended.
Use with the directional buttons to defend against attacks while moving 4m to the designated direction for 0.5s. Becomes Stealthed for 3s to make yourself unable to be targeted and increase Mana Regen by 2130 after defending against Fury or Wrath Attack. Block Blade changes to Poison Dagger. The first attack while Stealthed is a Critical Hit. Stealth ends when you attack or morph.
Poison Dagger: Throws up to 5 daggers at enemies within a 5m radius, dealing 100% damage and applying Weaken: Poison. Distributes the attack if there are multiple enemies within range.
Rotation
The main premise behind your rotation is to pre-buff with Inject Venom, which helps apply poison and boost damage via passives. Next, you can use Shadow Strike to close the distance and appear behind a target. Your main two dagger damage skills are Cleaving Moonlight and Vampiric Strike. Cleaving is good due to low cooldown and Vampiric when you need health. Save Brutal Incision when an enemy is below 50% for optimal damage. Use a Camouflage Cloak when you want to open with a critical or need to flee combat.
For the Staff, your main rotation is using Serial Fire Bombs to trigger Burn and then Inferno Wave to do AOE damage. The same sort of rotation applies with Frost, using Ice Spear or Icebound Tomb then Judgment Lighting for AOE.
For survivability, use Icebound Tomb to control a target, Camouflage Cloak to stealth away, and High Locus to refresh cooldowns.
Active Skills Upgrade Progression
The most important active skills to upgrade are Cleaving Moonlight, Inject Venom, and Shadow Strike. Cleaving Moonlight is your main spammable skill with a low cooldown, while Inject Venom is your pre-buff before attacking. Shadow Strike is your mobility tool, and all three skills work together in synergy: Inject Venom, Shadow Strike, and Cleaving Moonlight.
Below are recommended active skill upgrades in priority order:

Weapon Mastery
The best Weapon Mastery is Assassination for the dagger because it increases the most damage. The final perk, Maddening Excitement, increases attack speed, allowing for more skills thus, more DPS. Below are the recommended weapon mastery points:
- Assassination (Dagger): 9 points
- Poison (Dagger): 3 points
- Destroy (Staff): 9 points
- Attribute (Staff): 3 points
Weapon Mastery is a system that gives you experience for your weapon that is equipped proportional to the experience earned. Thus, at the start of the game, Weapon Mastery points are limited, but you will start earning more as your experience per kill and quest increase with level and zones. Your main hand weapon gains increased weapon mastery, while off-hand still gains some, just not as much.
Guardian
The best Guardian for the Dagger build is Lady Knight Kamarshea because of the Eternal Barrier skill that creates a shield based on your max mana and reduces cooldowns. This Guardian acts as a defensive and offensive tool that can be used every 10 minutes. If you have enough survivability, look to Masked Warlock Dantalux and the skill Abyssal Sanctuary for increased burst damage.
Guardians act as a short-term ultimate or super ability with powerful effects and a long cooldown. Ideally, you want to select a Guardian that either enhances a strength or covers up a weakness. You obtain Guardians after level 25 and completing Chapter 25. From that point, you can find how to obtain additional Guardians to enhance your Wand Build further. Moreover, these skills can only be used infrequently, as in 10 minutes, so save them for critical situations.
Best Weapons, Armor, and Accessories
Equipment such as weapons, armor, and accessories can be found throughout Throne and Liberty questing or combat. However, crafting specific equipment that grants bonuses to your build will be the most effective way to increase your power. There are no light, medium, or heavy proficiency requirements, but specific equipment grants unique bonuses suited to a longbow or tome user, not a Greatsword wielder.
Therefore, it’s important that you craft the correct equipment early in Throne and Liberty. Then, you can upgrade to higher quality throughout your playthrough and end at the max level of 50 with a properly balanced set of gear specifically designed for your Dagger build.
