Why Should You Play Prismatic Hunter in PVP?
PVP Prismatic Hunter is a brand new subclass released in Destiny 2 with the Final Shape expansion. The Prismatic subclass allows for combining different points of the various subclasses into one powerful subclass. This is going to lead to some interesting and powerful combinations. The object of the subclass is to combine and customize a subclass exactly how you want it to release the most carnage. Find out all the details on how to craft, create, and optimize our Prismatic Hunter PVP Build.

Abilities
The best abilities for the Prismatic Hunter PVP Build are Threaded Spike, Grapple Grenade, and Storm’s Edge Super. The Threaded Spike is a melee that can bounce between multiple combatants severing any that were hit reducing the damage they do. Also, Grapple Grenade provides a movement tool and a gap close with a powerful powered melee built in for some close-range damage. Lastly, the Storm’s Edge Super is the newest arc hunter super that throws a knife, pulls you to it, and deals an area-of-effect swing around you up to three times.
Storm’s Edge – Super that throws a knife, pulls you to it, and deals an area-of-effect swing around you up to three times.
Acrobat’s Dodge – Activating this dodge applies radiant to you and nearby allies
Strafe Jump – A higher single jump with strong directional control makes this jump a must have for PvP
Grapple – Grenade that allows us to fly at enemies and punch them, dealing AOE damage and unraveling them.
Threaded Spike – Melee that can bounce to multiple enemies, dealing damage to each one and severing them.
The most important abilities we use in this build are our Grapple Grenade and Acrobat’s Dodge. These will allow us unparalleled movement and evasion skills. Our Threaded Spike melee is great for cleaning up kills or reducing multiple enemies’ damage output. Lastly, our Storm’s Edge super provides us shutdown and roaming damage and is very hard for enemies to evade.
Aspects
The best aspects to use with our Prismatic Hunter PVP Build are Threaded Specter and Stylist Executioner. Threaded Specter provides us with a clone of ourselves that releases threadlings when destroyed. Also, Stylish Executioner makes us invisible upon killing a subclass debuffed target.
Threaded Specter – Using a class ability generates a strand clone that pings enemies radars and spawns threadlings when destroyed
Stylish Executioner – Killing a subclass debuffed target grants invisibility
Threaded Specter is essential with this build since it provides us with a clone that can confuse enemies by pinging their radar. Lastly, Stylish Executioner provides us with a survivability buff by making us invisible after killing an enemy affected by a subclass debuff.
Fragments
The best fragments for our Prismatic Hunter PVP Build are the Facet of Dawn, Facet of Hope, Facet of Blessing, Facet of Solitude, and Facet of Grace. Since these provide us with damage resistance, damage boost, and ability energy.
Facet of Dawn : Powered melee hits grant radiant
Facet of Hope : While Elemental buffs are active we regenerate class ability energy
Facet of Blessing : Melee final blows trigger health regeneration
Facet of Solitude : Landing rapid precision hits severs targets
Facet of Grace : Getting eliminations with Kinetic weapons gives additional transcendence energy
Facet of Solitude is great with our aspect allowing us to maintain constant invisibility. Facet of Dawn and Facet of Hope, when paired with our dodge, give constant radiant buff and class ability energy. Also, the Facet of Blessing starts our health regeneration after a melee final blow to allow us to re-engage fights sooner. Lastly, the Facet of Grace provides us with additional transcendence energy upon getting eliminations with kinetic weapons.
Best Weapons
The best weapon combination to use with the Prismatic Hunter PVP Build is an Igneous Hammer and Conditional Finality. Since these provide the best utility for both good close-range and mid-range engagements. Also, Hand Cannon and Shotgun is one of the highest skill gap weapon combinations and is often preferred by veteran players or those participating in high levels of PVP content.
Weapon Combinations
Below are some additional weapon combinations for our Prismatic Hunter PVP Build:
- Hand Cannon & Fusion Rifle- Best for good aimers
- Submachine Gun & Sniper Rifle- Best for aggressive players
- Pulse Rifle and Shotgun- Best for passive players
If you wish to run a different weapon combination, we highly recommend at least running a primary ammo weapon and a special ammo weapon. Running two special weapons will limit your ammo and is not functional. Even though utilizing two primary weapons is doable, you will be at a massive disadvantage due to the strength of special ammo weapons.
Hand Cannon & Fusion Rifle
While not as iconic as the hand cannon and shotgun meta that ruled Destiny 2 for many years, the hand cannon and fusion rifle combo is a lethal pairing. You gain the benefit of both mid-range engagements with your hand cannon and close-range bursts with your fusion rifle. This combination is especially powerful for guardians who like the high skill gap of Hand Cannons while providing an easier-to-use special weapon with the Fusion Rifle.
Submachine Gun & Sniper Rifle
With both close-range and long-range engagements taken care of with this pairing, however, it is recommended to play very aggressively with this combination. With a submachine gun, you are lethal at close ranges allowing you to contest most weapons within short range. A sniper rifle allows you to clear a lane and push up toward your enemies.
Pulse Rifle & Shotgun
This pairing allows for both long-range and close-range to be secured. Pulse Rifles can out-range most hand cannons while providing a very easy-to-use weapon so they work well with more passive players. Shotguns provide one-shot potential when getting rushed by enemy players that push your position.
Exotic Armor
The best exotic armor for the Prismatic Hunter PVP build is the new exotic hunter class item, Relativism. These new exotic class items can drop with two pre-existing exotic perks on one item. This allows unrivaled combinations and adjustments within Destiny 2 build crafting. The two perks we want with this build are the Spirit of the Dragon and the Spirit of the Wormhusk. These instantly reload our currently equipped weapon and increase our weapon handling while providing a boost in health and shields after activating your class ability. The most important perk to focus on is the Spirit of the Dragon since this provides the most PVP benefits while the additional healing of the Spirit of the Wormhusk is simply additional survivability.
Armor Stats
The best stats to focus on in our Prismatic Hunter PVP Build are Mobility, Intellect, and Recovery. Since these provide us with survivability, reduce our class ability cooldown, and reduce our super cooldown.
- Mobility: 100
- Resilience: 80
- Recovery: 20
- Disciple: 70
- Intellect: 30
- Strength: 30
Armor Mods
The best armor mods for our Prismatic Hunter PVP Build are Targeting Mods, Dexterity Mods, and Unflinching Mods. Since these build into how well our weapons perform in combat, they are of the highest priority.
Slot | Mod | Mod | Mod |
Head | Harmonic Targeting | Harmonic Targeting | Kinetic Targeting |
Arms | Fastball | Kinetic Dexterity | Harmonic Dexterity |
Chest | Unflinching Kinetic Aim | Unflinching Harmonic Aim | Unflinching Harmonic Aim |
Legs | Recuperation | Absolution | – |
Class | Reaper | Bomber | Distribution |
While we have kinetic weapon mods and arc weapon mods, you should adjust these depending on your weapon choices. So make sure to swap these mods to match your weapon energy types.
Gameplay Tips
This Prismatic Hunter PVP Build utilizes our weapons as well as our abilities to enhance our combat. With our melee and dodges we should always have radiant available for engagements to ensure we have a leg up. Our melee and our grenade are quite powerful and fantastic for starting or ending engagements. Lastly, our grapple grenade provides us with insane levels of movement and mobilities around the map. Also, our super provides us with a great tool to roam around the map contesting other supers or jumping onto a point with multiple enemies.
Also, one of the massive changes with Prismatic is known as Transcendence. Transcendence is a sudo-super mode of the subclass that is triggered upon filling up a dark and light bar located under your super. Once these are both filled, you can enter Transcendence which gives us boosted melee and grenade recharge rates, boosted weapon damage, and extra resistances. Also, we gain access to a transcendence-specific grenade for hunters called the Hailfire Spike. This is a grenade charged with both solar and stasis energy and it sticks to targets or surfaces and will erupt into a slowing storm. Afterwards, the device ignites and it creates a scorching cyclone.
