Best Morningstars in BG3

Baldur's Gate 3 The Sacred Star

Here are all the best Morningstars in Baldur’s Gate 3 to use in combat.

1) The Sacred Star

In Baldur’s Gate 3, The Sacred Star is the strongest of the Morningstars you can acquire in the game, and is particularly strong against the Undead. The primary bonus here is the extra Radient damage the weapon deals along with Radiant Strike. On a successful hit, you will inflict one turn of Radiating Orb upon your target. Radiating Orb is a condition where those inflicted have –1 to Attack Rolls per remaining turn. It also sheds bright light in the area surrounding it.

The weapon’s strength against the Undead is found in the Sanctified Weapon perk. This allows a successful hit against an Undead creature to inflict the Turned condition possibly. A Turned creature must spend its turns trying to move as far away from the creature who turned it as possible without attacking. The condition only goes away when the creature takes damage. This could be a useful way to take some of the pressure off when a group of undead is trying to attack at once.

Finally, the last bonus on this weapon is only active if you have it equipped to the character’s Main Hand slot. Doing so will mean that even when you miss an attack, The Sacred Star will still deal 1 Bludgeoning damage regardless.

2) Twist of Fortune

In Baldur’s Gate 3 the Twist of Fortune seems like a basic type of Morning Star until you look more closely at one particular weapon Action it provides. For characters with Martial Weapons Proficiency, those who equip it can use the action, Blood Money. Strike out greedily, dealing an additional 4 Piercing damage per 300 Gold that the target possesses. This action can be used once per Short Rest.

On the surface that might not seem like very much. Certainly, against poor enemies that only carry a little gold around in their pockets, it’s not going to do much good. But against richer opponents, this could potentially obliterate! If you have a high Dexterity character with the Sleight of Hand skill, you can make this weapon hit even harder. Simply have that character pickpocket your opponent – expect you want to put lots of gold in their pockets. Promptly take them out with a Bloody Money hit.

3) Ravengard’s Scourger

Ravengard’s Scourger in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a rare +2 Morningstar, allowing the wielders to cast Commander’s Strike. This is a one-handed melee weapon with a damage range of 1.5 meters and has a special (Commande’s Strike). The weapon actions of Ravengard’s Scourger are Heartstopper, Concussive Smash, and Tenacity. Use the Heartstopper to smash an enemy’s chest in and possibly inflict Chest Trauma. Concussive Smash allows you to hit an enemy with all your might to deal damage and Daze them. Tenacity is a unique weapon action because when you miss an attack, it deals Bludgeoning damage equal to your Strength modifier anyway.

You can obtain Ravengard’s Scourger from the High Security Vault in the Counting House. Move to the Counting House on the southern coast of the Lower City in Act 3 to equip this Morningstar. This weapon offers the best base damage due to its Weapon Enchantment +2, which adds damage rolls.
